Specification

1. A process for the production of a lime fertilizer, comprising
(a) providing an aqueous lime slurry comprising calcium chloride,
(b) depleting salts in said lime slurry comprising calcium chloride so as to obtain a salt-depleted lime slurry,
(c) adding lime powder and/or lime pieces to the salt-depleted lime slurry to obtain a wet mass and optionally adding water,
(d) mixing and granulating the wet mass to obtain a wet granule, and
(e) optionally drying the wet granule to obtain a dry granule.
2. The process of claim 1, wherein said lime slurry provided in step (a) is
made of solids suspended in an aqueous solution, and said solids comprise (as
wt.%):
- at least 1% and at most 70% lime expressed as Ca(OH)2,
- at least 5% and at most 60% calcium carbonate expressed as CaCO3,
- at least 1% and at most 40% calcium sulfate expressed as CaSO4,
- at most 15% magnesium hydroxide expressed as Mg(OH)2,
- at most 40%, preferably at most 30% or at most 20% of other minerals comprising silica, such as: silica, clays, iron silicate, aluminum silicate, or ettringite, and mixtures thereof,
and so that the sum of above solids components is 100%.
3. The process of claim 2, wherein the solids suspended in the aqueous solution has a d90 value of at most 300 µm, preferably of at most 200 µm, more preferably of at most 120 µm.
4. The process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said lime slurry provided in step (a) comprises distiller waste resulting from the

ammonia regeneration step in a process for producing soda ash according to the Solvay process.

The process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said lime powder and lime pieces are by-products from a process for producing soda according to the Solvay process such as: lime powder recovered from de-dusting during lime grinding, or lime pieces taken out from lime grinding before production of milk of lime.
6. The process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein step (b) comprises washing the lime slurry with water.
7. The process according to claim 4, wherein the salt-depleted lime slurry obtained in step (a) has a solid content from 20 to 50 wt.%.
8. The process of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the lime powder has a particle size distribution characterized by a d50 value of from 0.01 mm to 0.05 mm, and/or the lime pieces have a particle size distribution characterized by a d50 value of from 0.2 to 5 mm.
9. The process of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the wet granule obtained in step (d) has a moisture content of at least 12 wt.%; and/or wherein the wet granule obtained in step (d) has a moisture content of at most 40 wt.%, preferably at most 30 wt.%, more preferably at most 25 wt.%.

10. The process of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the dry granule obtained in step (e) has a moisture content of from 1 to 10 wt.%; and/or wherein the dry granule obtained in step (e) has a particle size distribution characterized by a d50 value of from 1 to 3 mm.
11. A lime fertilizer obtainable by a process of any one of the preceding claims comprising at least 15 wt.%, preferably at least 20 wt.%, more preferably at least 25 wt.%, even more preferably at least 30 wt.% of lime expressed as Ca(OH)2.
12. The lime fertilizer of claim 11, comprising a granule as defined in any one of claims 1 to 12.

13. The lime fertilizer of claim 11 or 12, wherein said granule is the dry granule.
14. The use of a lime slurry comprising calcium chloride, a lime powder and lime pieces for preparing a lime fertilizer.
15. The use of claim 14, wherein said lime slurry comprising calcium chloride, lime powder and lime pieces are obtained from a process for producing soda ash according to the Solvay process.
