Abstract: The present invention provides radiation detectors with high detection sensitivity. The radiation detectors according to the present invention each include an A12 O3 substrate, a CaxCoCoO2 (where 0.15<,x,<0.55) thin film that is layered on the A12O3 substrate, and that has CoO2 planes that are aligned inclined to the surface of the A12O3 a first electrode disposed on the CaxCoCoO2 thin film in a position opposed to the first electrode in the direction in which the CoO2 planes are aligned inclined.
