Description:FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a railway coach car and more particularly, to a seat/berth of the railway coach car having composite parts.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Railway industry needs lightweight materials and structures for rail 5 vehicles in order to meet the challenges it faces in terms of capacity increases and energy efficiency. Light weighting also brings reductions in vehicle operating costs. Furthermore, lighter vehicles cause less damage to track, thereby reducing infrastructure renewal costs. Railroad passenger car comprises berths and seats for seating passengers in the carriage. Contemporarily fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) 10 material is being used in manufacturing of some designs of berths and seats. Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) material provides advantages in light weighting, aesthetics, and long life. But at the same time, it lays low in stiffness and cost in manufacturing a product. Prior arts reveal that these berths can be made completely from FRP material by Mold pressing. However, the above design involves high 15 cost due to extensive use of FRP material and also only utilizing FRP provides inadequate stiffness to the overall structure.
[0003] Therefore, there is a requirement for an efficient structure that provides adequate stiffness along with gaining the advantages of light weighting in the overall structure. 20
OBJECTIVE OF INVENTION
[0004] It is an object of the invention to obtain develop a railway coach seat that uses a combination of steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) composite parts to achieve appropriate strength, light weight, and improved vibration isolation properties. Thus, providing better travel comfort to the passengers. 25
