Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention generally relates to a ready-to-mix cocktail, more particularly pre-packaged alcoholic cocktail concentrate for preparing a cocktail and a method of preparing the ready-to-mix cocktail from the packaged concentrate.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is very common to prepare cocktail to the taste of the consumer at the instant and at the point of consumption. However it is labour-oriented, time and resource consuming, cumbersome and space-occupying at the place of consumption. The recipes are bartender dependent and thereby the consumer has consistency and taste varies from place to place. Furthermore since in a cocktail, there involves a combination of fruit pulps, extracts, etc in addition to alcohols, there is an element of skill and judgement which cannot be optimized at the point of preparing the cocktail. Therefore there is a need to have certain standardized cocktail preparations made available to consumers, and more preferably a prepackaged in concentrate form.

Most of the prior art only disclosing pre-packaged blended alcoholic cocktail beverages that do not demand mixing and may be consumed directly from the container. The prepackaged cocktail beverages of prior art are generally ready-to- drink and contained in the same volume as is consumable. And most of the prepackaged cocktail beverages are high on fruit content and low on alcoholic drink, thereby typically serve more as a fruit-based cocktail and less as a alcoholic-based cocktail. Due to high content of fruit, in prior art, there is an essential need to use preservative for storage of the prepackaged cocktail beverages. When preservatives are not used, then there is a need to store the cocktails in cold or/and frozen conditions.

US 2005/0142253 discloses a frozen beverage and method of manufacturing a frozen beverage. These cocktails are referred as frozen cocktails or slashes which are consumed directly whereby the content melts slowly in the mouth and is crushed with teeth during consumption.

US 2011/117255 discloses a method of making an alcoholic beverage but is basically again a fruit drink, as there is an attempt to 'mask' the alcoholic flavor of the preparation.

US 2006/0121173 discloses a ready-to-drink pre-made alcohol containing Margarita cocktail mix, which is directly consumed by the consumer.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The first object of the invention is to provide an alcoholic based cocktail concentrate made available off the shelf.

The another object of the invention is to provide an improved method of making a concentrate.

The another object of the invention is to provide a method of expanding the concentrate cocktail into a consumable volume palatable by the consumer.

The another object of the invention is to use ice and/or soda to expand the concentrate not only as a taste enhancer, but dominantly as an expanding agent.

The other object of the invention is to make the cocktail concentrate shelf stable at ambient conditions.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a prepackaged cocktail concentrate and a recipe to prepare cocktail from the pre-packaged cocktail concentrate. The prepackaged cocktail comprises of a fruit pulp, fruit flavoring, fruit peel extract, fruit juice, fruit concentrate, fruit puree, sugar syrup, coloring agent and essentially at least 37.5% alcohol. The high content of alcohol enables itself to act as a preservative agent thereby not needing any other additional preservative for preserving the pre-packaged cocktail concentrate. Various category of cocktail recipes can be prepared based on the various category of prepackaged cocktail concentrate, some of them are given below such as Martinis category, Long drink category and Cream based category. The examples are not limiting the invention but only put forth the novelty exhibited in the product and in the process. There is no attempt to mask the 'alcoholic' flavor in the cocktail in the invention.

The pre-packaged cocktail recipe concentrate allows the consumers/users to prepare the cocktail with addition of an expander which is merely ice, soda or combination thereof to expand the concentrate into the drinkable cocktail at the instant of consumption. The cocktail preparations which are otherwise time consuming and cumbersome, can now be prepared instantly by the consumer from the cocktail concentrate.

The cocktail concentrates are generally separated into three broad categories for sake of describing the features of this invention.

1) Martinis
2) Long drinks
3) Cream based cocktails
