BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Electric lighting systems are one of the most important aspects of automobiles, be it two-wheelers, four-wheelers, etc. The electric lighting system is used for the various function of automobiles. For example, an electric lighting system may be one of headlamps, auxiliary lamps, parking lights in front, taillights in the rear, rear registration plate lamp. Nowadays the rear registration plate lamp is one of the focused areas for automobile companies. The rear registration plate lamp is an important part of the automobile lighting system. The rear registration plate lamp helps the automobile users to see another automobile and its license plate. The rear registration plate lamp is helpful for the police to identify the culprit through the help of visible rear registration or license plate. The rear registration plate lamp is also useful for the cameras to catch a clear view of the rear registration plate by using an available light source.
The white lamp is used for the illumination of the rear registration plate. The white lamp requires a larger packaging size for the electrical connection. The diffuser surface (302) having a plurality of facets such as slope facets and draft facets at predefined angles that may scatter light. The scattered light provides better light output. The facets then aims the light passing through it in a specific direction, such that all the beams from all the facets together make the requested external distribution of light. The output light falls over the surface of the rear registration plate (402), to light the surface of the plate (402) without creating white light directly visible to the rear of the vehicle.
In addition, as shown in figure 4, the registration plate (402) may be tilted at an angle. As shown in figure 4, the registration plate (402) may be at an angle a. The angle may be predefined based on the visibility of the registration plate (402) from behind. The predefined angle of the registration plate (402) may be based on the incident light on the registration plate (402). The light from the LED is made incident on the registration plate (402) so as to ease a visibility of the registration plate (402). Further, the light from the single chip LED should not fall beyond the surface area of the registration plate (402).
The present invention provides a number of advantages.
