FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a Rear under protection device for vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Heavy commercial vehicles usually have a high ground clearance, which poses a serious risk to smaller vehicles like cars, three wheelers. In the event of a collision with the rear end of a heavy truck the front portion of smaller vehicles penetrates inside the rear of the heavy vehicle and may get wedged between the road and underside of the heavy vehicle, causing serious injury to the occupants of the smaller vehicle. As a solution to the above problem it has been proposed to have a load-bearing member at a relevant height, which will prevent smaller vehicles from under-riding, the rear end of larger vehicles. Generally Rear under protection device (RUPD) is provided at the rear end of the commercial vehicle for preventing under running of smaller vehicle. Typical RUPD for commercial vehicles comprises of a load bearing cross member fixed to frame by intermediate mountings brackets. Some arrangements have a foldable RUPD arrangement. However most of the RUPD arrangements cannot be commonised to a wide variety of vehicle models because of different height of frames due to suspension or tyres options .A simplified RUPD arrangement with a vertical height adjustment of RUPD using the same components to cater to the different tyre and suspension options is required.
OBJECT OF INVENTION
Main object of the present invention is provide rear under protection device for vehicles.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same,
In accordance with present Invention, rear under protection device comprises; frame long member (1), at least two mounting bracket member (2) or (2A) at both side which is connected to the rear end of said long member frame (1) , at least two support bracket member(3) at both side for connecting the said mounting bracket member (2) or (2A) , cross member (4) , at least two reinforcement plates (5) for holding said cross member (4) to support bracket member (3) , at least two end cap (6)at both of said cross member (4) for closing the end portion of the cross member.
Said Mounting bracket members (2) or (2A) are formed from sheet of E34 grade steel having thickness of about 6mm thickness. Brackets are mirror image of one another.
Said Support bracket members (3) are formed from sheet of E34 grade steel having thickness of about 5mm thickness. Brackets are mirror image of one another
4
Said Cross member(4) consists of reinforcement plate(5) which is welded to the said support bracket members (3) having a length greater than the said support bracket members, which extends to the extreme end to the wheel tires to the both end.
Plurality of Bolts (7) is provided for mounting the said Mounting bracket members (2) or (2A) to the said long member frame (1). For RUPD cross member height adjustment mounting holes (8) are provided at the lower end of the said mounting bracket members (2) for adjusting the height between road surface and the said cross member (4) by suitably using the mounting holes arrangement.
Bolted connections (9) are provided for joining Said Support bracket members (3) and said Mounting bracket members (2) or (2A).
The rear end of the said long member frame (1) comprises Adjustable hole (10) for mounting said mounting bracket members (2)or (2A) at suitable positions to the said long member frame (1).
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof
