, Description:Field of Invention:
The invention is in the field of personal care products. More particularly, the current invention relates to a body wash concentrate which can be sold as a paste or a liquid that can be reconstituted to form a thick viscous liquid.
Background of the Invention:
Personal care is essential for a healthy and clean body. Personal hygiene is an unavoidable part of healthy grooming habits. To take complete care of your body the necessity of personal care products come into the spotlight.
Currently, Personal care products available in markets are lotions, hair dyes, lipsticks, creams, deodorants, bath soaps, dental care products, shampoos, toothpaste, perfumes, UV filters, detergents, sunscreens and fragrances.
The most common personal care product available in market is soap. However, using soap bars requires a container, like a soap dish, to store hygienically, unlike body washes which are self-contained units. Also, carrying soap is hard and it is difficult to share. Usually family members share the same bathroom, in which case it is convenient to use and share a body wash, from a hygiene perspective, rather than sharing the soap bar.
With body wash, every drop is fresh, untouched and unused. Body Washes are sold in liquid form, contained in bottles, generally made of plastic. These bottles can generate a large amount of waste that can be hazardous to environment. The use of bottles also impacts transport costs, as they can be bulky, expensive and environmentally damaging over the course of its life cycle. For instance, during transportation, if the temperature or pressure changes, the bottles expand and contract which may cause leakage Furthermore, there are additional adverse health effects of using plastic containers, such as toxicity, Carcinogenicity, Endocrine disruption, which can lead to cancers, birth defects, etc.
In view of above, it would be prudent to develop such a formulation which can be packed in such containers which are not bulky and easy to transport. Many inventors have tried to reduce the package size by developing such formulations which can be packed in small packages.
For instance, EP1071399A1 discloses a single-use personal care product which does not require bottle packaging. However, the formulation has disclose and claimed in EP ‘399 is the single use package which may be not so economical for daily usage which can be cost ineffective specially in case of daily home usage.
JP4834456B2 discloses a dry powdered body wash composition which is sold as a powder and does not require reconstitution. However, as the formulation as disclosed in JP ‘456 is a powder formulation which do not require reconstitution, it is possible that the powder may be considered abrasive by certain users, thereby limiting its usability.
Hence, in view of above, it appears that the area of reconstitutable body washes has not been sufficiently explored to develop a formulation which is both economical and eco-friendly.
Therefore, it is object of the current invention to develop a novel personal care product which is easy to transport, economical and eco-friendly.
Summary of Invention
In an aspect, the present invention provides a body wash concentrate which can be sold in an eco-friendly package and is easy to transport.
In another aspect, the invention provides a composition which can be reconstituted to form a thick viscous liquid product for personal care.
In another aspect, the present invention provides a process for manufacturing said reconstitutable body wash concentrate.
Detailed Description of the Invention:
Described herein is a personal care product which is a reconstitutable Body wash concentrate which can be sold as liquid or paste and can be reconstituted to form a thick viscous liquid which can used as a personal care product, particularly body wash or face wash.
Further, the Body wash concentrate of the current invention can reduces use of plastic, and also reduces transportation, fuel, storage cost and moves towards the greener part.
In an embodiment, the reconstitutable body wash of the invention contains an anionic, a non-ionic and an amphoteric surfactant, an emollient/Humectant, a thickener/rheology modifier. In accordance with this embodiment the body wash can be formulated in liquid or paste form.
Accordingly, selection/screening of the correct surfactant combination, emollient/humectant, rheology modifier or thickener is essential to get a product which is easily soluble and dissolves within few minutes to an hour. Further, ingredients are selected such that, they are compatible with each other and form viscous liquid.
In accordance to above embodiment, the surfactants used herein have a higher to lower to medium activity. Further, the surfactants are so selected such that, they retain the original activity in reconstituted liquid form. Accordingly, surfactants should be compactable to the smaller pack and provide the same benefits after getting reconstituted at the consumer end.
The reconstitutable liquid/paste may further contain effective amount of Anionic surfactants, Non-ionic surfactants, amphoteric surfactant Thickeners, chelating agents and preservatives.
The reconstitutable body wash concentrate of the present invention comprises of Anionic and Amphoteric surfactant in a ratio of 2-6:0.5-3, preferably 2.1-5.0:0.5-3 and more preferably in the range of 2.8 - 4.2: 0.5 -2.
