, Description:Field of Invention:
The invention is in field of personal hygiene products. More particularly, the invention relates to personal hygiene product which are powder and which could be reconstituted to form a liquid usable product.

Background of the Invention:
Personal hygiene or toiletries are consumer products used in personal hygiene and for beautification. Traditionally, most of these products are sold as liquid products. The major disadvantages with respect to liquid products are in terms of storage, packaging, the degree of preservation required, and convenience of use. Further, since liquid can pass through tiniest of cracks or through tiny pores which might be consequence of faulty machinery or low-quality raw material, there is always a risk of leakage arising out of improper handling during transportation or sudden bumping of the vehicle while trading a particularly uneven road. Further, Liquid cleansing products are, typically, transported and sold in bottles. The cost of the bottle contributes, significantly, to the overall cost of the product.

In certain cases, particularly in case of sanitisers currently available in market, which contain alcohol, in form of ethanol or isopropanol in concentrations of above 60%. This high concentration of alcohol is very effective in killing most of the bacteria and deactivating most of viruses. As alcohol is flammable, this poses an additional risk of combustion which also contributes to the transportation cost, in turn the final cost of the product.

The most viable solution would be to devise a product which can overcome the aforementioned disadvantages. The cost of transportation could be easily reduced by devising the product in a solid form. The attempts of which have been made in prior art, for instance by inventors of EP1574203.

Accordingly, the product as disclosed in EP'203 is a rehydratable personal hygiene product which is converted to liquid as and when required. Since, the end-user product is a liquid product, the disadvantage of liquid as enumerated hereinbefore are eliminated.

Further, the risks posed by alcohol can be eliminated by completely avoiding use of alcohol for any personal hygiene product. This has been achieved by using other antimicrobial actives such as quaternary ammonium compounds like benzethonium chloride or benzalkonium chloride, as can be seen from disclosures of US6087400, WO 2002/102151 and US9775346.

Furthermore, alcohol as anti-microbial active has also posed certain other problems like drying of skin due to its inherent hygroscopic property. As alcohols, which are used commercially in sanitisers, have very low boiling points, they tend to evaporate very quickly. Thereby affording only short-time sanitisation, thereby requiring repeated application of sanitisers.

Therefore, it is an object of present invention to provides such personal hygiene formulations which are easy to transport and eliminate most of the risks posed by currently available products in the market and are skin friendly.

Summary of Invention:
Accordingly, the present invention provides a personal hygiene product which is solid during transportation and can be converted to a liquid usable form by addition of water, that is, the present invention provides a reconstitutable personal hygiene product.

In further aspect, the invention provides a personal hygiene product which is free of alcohol and demonstrates conditioning effect, but provides a similar antimicrobial activity as a product containing alcohol and has residual antimicrobial efficacy of 99.9% germ protection or kill for 2 to 6hrs. It also reduces the frequency of washing of hands. Accordingly, the personal hygiene product could be a sanitiser.

In accordance with above aspect, the invention provides a personal hygiene product which may form a reconstituted product having a gel like consistency and can be used as handwash.

In additional aspect, the invention provides a process for manufacturing the reconstitutable personal hygiene product of the invention.
