Relay Device And Communication System

Abstract: A relay device 1 of the present invention comprises a loop detection unit 15 and an output control unit 14. The loop detection unit 15 manages the priority levels of respective ports 10 1 to 10 N and periodically generates a loop detection frame having an area in which port information indicating a port to which the loop detection frame is to be transmitted is stored and in which priority level information indicating a priority level is stored. When the loop detection unit 15 receives a loop detection frame transmitted from another device and further if the priority level of the port is lower than the priority level indicated by the priority level information of the received frame then the loop detection unit 15 uses the priority level of the port to update the priority level information of the received loop detection frame and then outputs the received loop detection frame. When the loop detection unit 15 receives the loop detection frame transmitted from the relay device 1 the loop detection unit 15 controls whether to block the port on the basis of the priority level information stored in the loop detection frame transmitted from the other device and on the basis of the priority levels of the respective ports. The output control unit 14 sends to the port the loop detection frame outputted from the loop detection unit 15.
