Abstract: With conventional relay devices, in cases where an output port of a frame including a destination address that has not yet been learned by an address table is a port that is connected to a branch line, flooding is performed for all ports except the port that has received the frame, resulting in a problem in that the traffic load on a communication device is large. A relay device (21) is provided with a destination determination unit (41) which transfers, when a port number corresponding to a destination address included in a frame that a query unit (43) receives cannot be acquired from a first storage unit (33) and a time measured by a timer unit (40), which starts time measurement when the first storage unit (33) is to be cleared, is within a set time, the frame to ports (511 and 512) that are connected to trunk lines (61, 64), and transfers, when a time measured by the timer unit (40) exceeds the set time, the frame to the ports (511 and 512) that are connected to the trunk lines (61, 64), and a port (513) that is connected to a branch line (65).
