Release Mechanism For Deployable Flight Data Recorder
Abstract: Release Mechanism for Deployable Flight Data Recorder provides a mechanism for engagement & disengagement of DFDR system with mounting tray which further remains fixed with the Aircraft. The function of Release Mechanism (100) is to hold the DFDR system firmly with the mounting tray fixed in the aircraft and release the same once it gets signal from the energy storage unit in the Aircraft. The mechanism is based upon jet action, instead of other mechanism already in use like electro-mechanical, air-bag system, explosive systems etc, of high pressure, high velocity gases which move the piston out of the support rod fixed in the DFDR system, leading to the deployment of DFDR from the Aircraft.
