Abstract: ABSTRACT Our Invention Retro-fitment Kit for Three-Wheeler Auto Rickshaw to Convert IC engine into Electrical Drive Using Gear Box is a development of Retrofitting kit for converting Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) three-wheel auto rickshaw into an Electrical vehicle. The vehicle pollution in the form of tailpipe exhaust on one side and Early Evaporative Emission on the other and also noise pollution due to higher Noise Vibration & Harshness (NVH) level of ICE power train used in existing vehicles have made it obligatory to switch over e-vehicles (EV). Among various carriages viz. Taxis, MUVs, AC taxies, Three-Wheel Auto Rickshaw (TAR), Three-Wheel Scooter Rickshaw (TSR), and Three-Wheel Cycle Rickshaw (TCR) used in IPT, TAR are large with regards to the population. It is essential to replace them with either e-TST or e-TAR to reduce urban pollution. As a new electric rickshaw price is high so this retro fitment kit is midway to auto-rickshaw users as its cost is lesser than a new electric rickshaw. Entire literature related to the activities from many countries was of great help in finalizing the kit design and devising strategy in the implementation of kit on a vehicle.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
Our Invention is related to a Retro-fitment Kit for Three-Wheeler Auto Rickshaw to Convert IC engine into Electrical Drive Using Gear Box.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The hybrid vehicles have distinct advantage of allowing long travel, as atleast one source is always available to drive the vehicle. Hence, there is no risk of running out of fuel as it frequently happens with a traditional internal combustion powered vehicle.
The hybrid vehicle can operate as an IC engine vehicle or as an electric vehicle or even as both. For example, driving on terrain or for long distances, IC engine can be used and for shorter distances electric propulsion system can be used. These advantages come at the costs of approximately one third higher vehicle weight and price.
PRIOR ART SEARCH
OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
1. The object of the invention is to a Retro-fitment Kit for Three-Wheeler Auto Rickshaw to Convert IC engine into Electrical Drive Using Gear Box is a development of Retrofitting kit for converting Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) three-wheel auto rickshaw into an Electrical vehicle.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

We found a solution by using a less power BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor (1KW) which will consume less electric power to drive the vehicle which has an added advantage in increasing the range of the vehicle. We used Lithium Phosphate Battery to drive the vehicle which also increased the performance of the vehicle. A gearbox was used for altering torque and speed between a motor and a load.
The mechanical part we designed to convey the power from motor to the gearbox and also the design of mounting of the motor is in such a way that it will compactly attach assembly of the whole drive system by the mean that output result from the setup is efficient because less moving parts and the distance between them is minimum so less power loss. A retro-fitment solution is the best option to convert an IC Engine vehicle into an E-vehicle.
We have compared our retro-fitted E-vehicle with the IC Engine Bajaj RE Auto-Rickshaw and also with the Mahindra Treo Yaari HRT E-rickshaw. Based on performance we get the better result in the form of less running cost (Household 0.48Rs/Km), Optimized Torque (38Nm), better range (90 Km), and more safety (as Lithium Phosphate Battery is used).

Advantages of the Proposed Technology:
1. Due to retro-fitment, implementation cost is reduced, hence capital cost is low (i.e.70,000/) as compare to existing Electric Vehicle and Petrol/Diesel TAR (Three Wheeler Auto Rickshaw).

2. More beneficial due to low initial cost and low running cost as requires (household 0.48 Rs/Km).
3. Optimized torque up to 38Nm by using gearbox.
4. The range of Retro-fitted Electrical vehicle is 90 Km in single charge.
5. Lithium Phosphate cells are in powder form hence it is more safe battery as compare to other batteries and it gives better performance.
6. Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides & Hydrocarbons are released when fuel burns in Internal Combustion (IC) Engine. Since it is retro-fitted electric vehicle there is zero emission of gases and hence it is Ecofriendly for environment.
7. Retro-fitted Electric vehicle contains 30% less moving parts as compared to IC engine so it has less maintenance.
8. Obtain same speed and torque for both forward and reverse motion.
9. Noise pollution is reduced up to 30% as compare IC Engine.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
This is the proposal of the project for developing conversion for a conventional Auto Rickshaw to a E-Rickshaw/E-Auto. Conventionally the Auto Rickshaw is an internal combustion engine (ICE) powered vehicle. Over the last two decades, electrical mobility is being promoted all over the world and our country has been doing the same since 2012 based on provisions made in National Electrical Mobility Mission Plan (MEMMP) 2020 and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) I and II.
To minimize tail-pipe emission in the form of NOx, CO2 and particulate matter (PM), and Un-burnt hydrocarbon (UBHC) as early evaporative Emission (EEE) from a fuel tank and a crankcase many technologies have evolved for ICE vehicles over the last decade. However, they helped to minimize pollution and did not make it zero. As per more stringent environmental norms for CO2, PM, NOx emission it is better to aim at Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) and that is possible by switching to electrical vehicles.
As we know the Population of India is World’s second-largest population, so, existing vehicles in India are in large amount and that’s the primary reason for carbon emission which is badly affecting the environment. Due to the limitation of fossil fuels they have become expensive in India in turn making them unaffordable

to auto-rickshaw uses. Auto Rickshaw Union in India claims that CNG, Petrol, and Diesel based Auto Rickshaw are expensive due to high fuel cost & Maintenance. According to the vehicle scrapping policy in India, every Auto Rickshaw is scrapped after 16 Years, which is the reason for Auto Rickshaw users to be unhappy with this decision due to their losses.
By 2016 as per the record of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (Mo-RTH) there were 64 lakh Rickshaws on-road and annual growth in their population is 2.5 lac. To reduce traffic congestion and minimize pollution metro network Is being established in every city in addition to existing modes. Despite all such developments rickshaw still remains a primary mode of Intermediate Public Transport (IPT).
As per the norms laid down by the Indian Government, the solution BS2, BS3 & BS4 Vehicles which are currently present on road are to be scrapped thus creating a huge amount of scrap and loss to auto-rickshaw drivers. To solve this problem, retrofitting is the perfect solution. It is a perfect midway solution to reduce the huge amount of scrap and reduce pollution making the beloved auto-rickshaw eco-friendly.
For making our project (E-vehicle) as efficient as the IC engine vehicle and taking advantage of the market trend, we designed a part that will connect the electrical motor drive to the gear system. To maximize the output based on torque as well as the speed the gear system is used which is an advantageous part over the present electric vehicle. Due to the resulting high torque weight carrying capacity of the vehicle is increased.
[The material used for the manufacturing of part is EN24 and the hardness level is between 40 to 45 BHN]. We designed the mounting part of the electric motor, the assembly of the Clutch, Gear, and Differential system in the way that, all these parts can be compactly assembled thus minimizing the power loss due to the distance between all systems being minimum. The previous system was called as the ECG (Engine – Clutch – Gear) system and the developed system can be called as MCG (Motor – Clutch – Gear) system. [The material used for the manufacturing of the motor mounting component is MS]. The commercial use of Retro-fitted E-vehicle is more convenient to use for the Auto Rickshaw user.
