Abstract: This invention relates to retro-fittable automobile exterior lighting syslerri mounting bracket for front fog lamp comprising a base part integrated t.o boss kind of structure for fog lamp mounting constituting a single structure, which is secured to front bumper of vehicle. It is associated with the following advantageous features:- - Retro-fittable fog lamp. - Comparatively cost effective.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention is directed to retro-fittable automobile exterior lighting system
.mounting bracket for front fog lamp.
BACKGROUND1 PRIOR ART
Fog lamp is installed in front bumper of automobile. In particular, fog lights of
the vehicle are used in case of fog, 'snowfall, rainstorms or dust clouds to
improve the illumination of the road thereby helping the driver drive safely.
Some provisions are known to have been provided in the prior art, which can
be discussed hereinbelow:-
According existing technology as illustrated in fig. 1, the front bumper
mounting (1)is integrated to four bosses (2) and housing of lamp (3) is provided
with four legs (4), out of which minimum three bosses and legs are required to
hold the front lamp by means of tapping screws (5)..
In accordance with another prior art(CN 102745 125), an adjustable front fog
lamp mounting structure has been suggested.
It includes a front fog lamp body having a plurality of mounting legs wherein
.the mounting leg is provided with irregular shaped holes in which vehicle front
fog lamp fixing columns can be horizontally regulated and the atleast one .
, mounting leg is having provision of a knob.
The shortcoming with the above is that, in order to accommodate the fog lamp
mounting structure in the front bumper, provision is required to be made at
the. time of manufacturing.
Thus, the drawback with above known arts is that it can't be retrofitted to the
vehicle if needed following fabrication of vehicle.
~ e l l c e , lhe instant invention proposes retro-fittable automobile mounting
bracket for front fog lamp, which requires only two 'bosses for assembly unlike
prior. art.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose retro-fittable automobile .exterior
lighting system mounting bracket for front fog lamp.'
Another object of this invention is to propose retro-fittable automobile exterior
lighting, system mounting bracket for front fog lamp which obviates
disadvantages of prior arts.
Still another object of this, invention is to propose retro-fittable automobile
exterior lighting system mounting, bracket for front fog lamp which is simple in
construction.
Further object of this invention is to propose retro-fittable automobile exterior
lighting system mounting bracket for front fog lamp which is comparatively
cost effective.
I SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, 'there is provided retro-fittable automobile exterior
lighting system mounting bracket for front fog lamp comprising a base part
integrated to boss kind of structure for fog lamp mounting constituting a single
structure, which is secured to front bumper of vehicle.
The bracket of the invention is designed to hold front fog lamp by means of its
boss to withstand the loads exerted during dynamic condition of vehicle.
Thus, the front fog lamp is placed at desired location with the help of said
bracket, which is fastened with self-tapping screws to fog lamp on one side and
front bumper on opposite side.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings of exemplary embodiments .of invention and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: Conventional arrangement for mounting of front fog lamp.
Fig. 2 and 2A '
shows: Isometric view of mounting bracket for front fog lamp
according to present invention.
Fig. 3 shows: Mounting of fog lamp on the front bumper of vehicle via
mounting bracket of invention.
Fig. 4 shows: Bottom view of mounting bracket in accordance with present
invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION WITH REFERENCE
TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
This invention makes a disclosure regarding retro-fittable automobile exterior
lighting system mounting bracket for front fog lamp. The bracket constitutes a
single piece to be placed between-fog lamp and front bumper on both left hand
side and right hand side of vehicle. The fog lamp bracket 'on both sides is
' translatory.
. ,
Now reference may be made to fig 2. The bracket includes a base (l'), one end
(2') of which is curved having substantially U-section and other end (3') of
which is slanted with a slot (4') at an intermediate position thereof so as to
accommodate an inclined rib (R) of the front bumper (B) thereinside as best
seen in Fig. 2A.
The surface of the slanted end runs parallel to the inclined rib. The provision of
curved'end i~ made in order to save material, reduce the stress and also to
improve material flow in the course of.manufacturing.
The curved end of the base is mounted with a cylindrical boss structure (5') for
fog lamp mounting with the help 'of a self-tapping screw. Further, the lower
outer surface of the boss (5') is integrated.to multitude of strengthening ribs (6')
maintaining a distance therebetween circumferentially as shown.
The rib is having substantially a triangular section when seen in side view,
which is extended from lower outer surface of the boss i.e. from an 1
1
intermediate point upto bottom on the outer surface of boss upto the base as
shown.
In addition .to the above, there is provision of a through hole (H) in the base
between two ends thereof so as' to house front bumper boss (7') for being .
secured to said front bumper as in fig. 3.
Height of the structure (H') relies on the following factors:-
'Height of front bumper boss
- Mounting point of fog 'lamp.
- Length of self-tapping screw.
.Height of base (HI) depends on bumper boss height.
Th? other end uf the through hole (H) facing towards the front bumper is
having a flange (F) as illustrated in fig. 4housing the front bumper boss, which
together with the rib (R) on bumper act as a locator and anti rotation means.
Thus, the flange of through hole, front bumper boss and rib function as guide
(locator) and anti rotation means.
Now, reference may be made to fig 3. Mounting of the fog lamp is conducted by
screwing housing of fog lamp (8') for holding the fog lamp with the mounting
bracket, in which the bracket is mounted on the front bumper.
b he bracket can be made of any Polymer of Plastic (Nylon), which can be
manufactured by the method of injection molding without restricting scope of
the invention to the same. Thus, other materials and methods readily apparent
to .a person skilled in the art are understood to be within scope of the
'invention. ,
The invention is configured to be mounted to the exterior of an automobile's
front bumper in the position customarily occupied by the dummy space. Power
is preferably supplied by the automobile's electrical circuitry intended to power
the front fog lamp.
Thus, the instant invention is applicable to any vehicle having said dummy
space. As it can be retrofitted to the vehicle at a later stage, therefore it is quite. '
flexible leading to customer satisfaction.
Advantageous Features
- Comparatively cost effective.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims: -
