Specification

DESC:CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION(S)
This application is a complete patent application of Indian Provisional Patent Application No. 201831006537 filed Feb. 21, 2018 and titled " Reverse Printed In Mold Label" the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present disclosure, in general, relates to in-mold labels, and more particularly to reverse printed in-mold labels.

BACKGROUNDOF THE INVENTION
[0001] In-mold labels and labeling are well known labeling technique in packaging industry. Such labels are adhered to an article, such as a bottle, during the molding of the article. The label is placed within the cavity of a mold before molding, and the label adheres to the surface of the article during molding.
[0002] A typical application of in-mold labeling is in the production of blow-molded containers. A pre-printed label with heat-activated adhesive is placed against the surface of the mold cavity and held in position. The mold is closed, and a plastic container is heated and inflated within the mold. The hot plastic presses against the label, activating the adhesive and causing the label to adhere to the outer surface of the newly molded container. The mold is opened, and the labeled container is ejected from the mold.
[0003] Another typical application of in-mold labeling is in the production of injection molded containers. A pre-printed label with heat-activated adhesive is placed against the surface of the mold cavity and held in position. The mold is closed, and a plastic liquid is heated and inflated within the mold. The hot plastic presses against the label, activating the adhesive and causing the label to adhere to the outer surface of the newly molded container. The mold is opened, and the labeled container is ejected from the mold.
[0004] Generally in mold label are printed on an outer surface so as to give aesthetic effects. However, printing can temper in case of wear and tear.
[0005] One of the technique to address supra is to use coextruded film to laminate on a reverse printed in mold label so as to make the film in mold label, however, the coextruded film decreases its properties while passing through heated channel while lamination.
[0006] Hence there exists a need of a solution of above mentioned problem.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] An aspect of the present invention is to address at least the above-mentioned problems and/or disadvantages and to provide at least the advantages described below. Accordingly, an aspect of the present invention is a reverse printed in mold label.

[0008] In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a reverse printed in mold label is provided. The invention includes a transparent biaxially polypropylene film, wherein the transparent biaxially polypropylene film is reverse printed. The invention then includes a biaxially polypropylene film film laminated with the transparent biaxially polypropylene film so as to achieve a composite film. In an embodiment, the biaxially polypropylene film can be either a holographic biaxially polypropylene film or a metallic biaxially polypropylene film or or a colored biaxially polypropylene film or a white opaque biaxially polypropylene film or a combination thereof. In yet another embodiment, the metallic film is laminated with the transparent film by a laminating agent having properties of non conductivity so as to prevent static charge to dissipiate for metallic biaxially polypropylene film. In an embodiment of the present invention, the biaxially polypropylene film is coated with a heat adhesive coating on the composite film at a sealant side so as to achieve in mold label film.

[0009] Other aspects, advantages, and salient features of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description, which, taken in conjunction with the annexed drawings, discloses exemplary embodiments of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES
