PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:-

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a clutch pedal assembly for motor vehicle, and more particularly relates to reversible clutch pedal assembly design to optimize clutch effort with respect to pedal graduation to ensure comfort of driver of the motor vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Clutch pedal characteristics plays vital role in driver comfort. Improper clutch actuation characteristic leads to fatigue driving. Especially when driving in high density traffic (bumper to bumper traffic) condition where multiple clutch applications are required. FIGS. 1a-1c illustrates conventional clutch pedal assembly. The conventional assembly comprises a support bracket (1) connected to a pedal arm (2) using a return spring (3) as shown in the FIG. 1a. The conventional clutch pedal assembly comprises a sleeve (4), a blot (5), a stopper bracket (6), a think nut (7), a stopper screw (8), a washer (9), and a Nyloc nut (10). In the conventional clutch pedal design, the return spring (3) is wound tightly like an extension or compression spring, although the ends of the return spring (3) typically extend away from the spring in a non-helical shape. One of the ends are located in hole provided on clutch pedal arm (2) and other is in hole provided on the support bracket (1). Instead of being compressed or extended, the return spring (3) is twisted to store potential energy. This energy is consume to assist or return the pedal arm (2). Limitation of using the conventional clutch pedal design illustrated in the FIGS. 1a-1c is that it can control only one side of clutch characteristics i.e., either forward or return of the clutch. For example, if reduce the clutch effort needs to be reduced then there will be compromise in terms of sluggish behavior during the pedal return. Sometime with unproportioned reduction of forward load may cause pedal

stuck issue during diving in uphill as illustrated in FIG. 2. Further, if the clutch return behavior is improved then the clutch pedal effort will increase.
[0003] Therefore, there remains a need of a clutch pedal assembly design to improve the pedal characteristic in both forward and reverse direction.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The principal object of the embodiments herein is to provide a clutch pedal assembly design to improve the pedal characteristic in both forward and reverse direction by reducing effort and tune the reverse characteristic respectively.
[0005] Another object of the embodiments herein is to reversible clutch pedal assembly design to optimize clutch effort with respect to pedal graduation to ensure comfort of driver of the motor vehicle.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] In one aspect object is satisfied by providing a support bracket comprising a toggle spring, a pedal arm comprising a toggle spring, and a reversible spring connected at one end to the toggle spring of the support bracket and operably connecting other end of the reversible spring to toggle spring of the pedal arm. The reversible spring provides assistance during an onward stroke of the pedal arm and resistance during a return stroke of the pedal arm.
[0007] In an embodiment, during the onward stroke of the pedal arm, the reversible spring off-center with respect to an axis of a joint of the toggle spring

of the support bracket and the toggle spring of the pedal arm to provide assistance for clutch engagement.
[0008] In an embodiment, during the return stroke of the pedal arm, the reversible spring provides off-center with respect to an axis of a joint of the toggle spring of the support bracket and the toggle spring of the pedal arm to provide resistance for clutch disengagement.
[0009] In an embodiment, the assistance is provided till a toggle point is reached for the clutch engagement.
[0010] In an embodiment, the resistance is provided to reduce a peak return load after a peak point is passed while clutch disengagement.
[0011] These and other aspects of the embodiments herein will be better appreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating preferred embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.
