Abstract: A Roll Dispenser comprising a front part and a rear part, the rear part, being adapted to form a stand for. the dispenser with its top ends hingedly connected to respective brackets at the top end of the dispenser, said brackets being provided in the extended top portion of the said front part, the front part being formed as a channel shaped unit having a pair of frames, namely, a top frame and a bottom frame separated from each other, each said frame having a front end, a rear end, a left side end and a right side end, the corresponding ends of these two frames having been connected by one or more suitable cross members, the rear end of the top frame member being also held to the top ends of the said rear part, the cross members connecting the rear end of the top frame and the rear end of the bottom frame being extended below the level of the bottom frame and provided with a front extension portion enabling it to rest on the floor and also serving the purpose of a support for a Roll adopted to rest on the same.
This Invention relates to a Novel dispenser for roll
material.
It is known that roll materials such as packing foils
e.g. as Aluminium Foils are sold in the form of rolls and the
seller or the shop keeper has to stack a plurality of rolls.
Conventionally, such a plurality of rolls are stacked in an
Almirah or stored in a Wall Cabinet or in Drawers or in a small
Shelves. It is often noticed that when a Wall Cabinet is opened
having a stack of rolls of packing material such as Aluniniun
Foils, the stack collapses and number of such rolls roll to the
ground. Same is the case with the narrow Shelves holding such
rolls.
In the case of drawers, in which a plurality of such rolls
are held, not only a large floor space is occupied but also further
space is necessary for the pulled cut Drawer. Similarly in the case
of Shelves and Wall Cabinet, not only the Cabinet and Shelves occupy
large space, but also the front doors of Cabinets and Shelves
require further space during opening of the Cabinet or Shelves.
Thus the known devices for disposing roll material reguire
large space and interferes witn the free movement of the personnel
in the shop.
A further drawback of the known roll disposing Cabinet/
Shelves / Drawers is that this can accomodate only small diameter
rolls and the investment cost become prohibitive if large
diameter rolls are to be dispensed with.
A still further drawback of the known roll dispensers of
the Cabinet/Shelve/Drawer type is that these are fixed units
and can not be moved around at will.
Though attempts have been made to prevent the rolling off
of the rolls from Cabinets and Shelves by providing rearwardly
slopping floors, this is not founn to be convenient and adds to
handling problem.
A still further drawback of the known Cabinets/Shelves/
Drawers is that these are to be made of good quality wood of
considerable thickness which becomes very expensive Further the
labour charges for making these units are very high Added to
these are the maintenance cost.
It is therefore an object of this Invention to propose
a novel dispenser for roll material which will be light in
weight and investment cost are minimum.
It is another object of this Invention to propose such
a dispenser which is not only portable but also collapsible
Yet another object of this Invention is to propose such
a roll dispenser which can be held on table tons or hung from
walls or sides of Cabinets/Shelves or even suspended from doors
and windows.
A still further object of this Invention is to propose
such a roll dispenser which can be made of strips of light
metal such as Aluminium or strips of plastics or of strips of
light wood materials such as bamboo strips, all of which are
easily available •
A furthermore object of this Invention is to propose
such a roll dispenser which is cheap and does not require any
maintenance cost, and can be handled easily.
These and other objects of this Invention will be
apparent from the following description.
For 'the sake of convenience and easy understanding of
the principles of the Invention, we describe below the preferred
embodiment 6f the dispenser of the Invention made of extruded
thin rods of Aluminium.
In the accompanying drawing, figure 1 shows of perspective
view of the dispenser while figure 2 shows a front view of the
dispenser, figure 3 shows a top view and fidure 4 shdws side
view all in the operating position
Thus the dispenser No.1 of this Invention comprises
two principal parts, a rear part 2 and a front part 3. The rear
part is formed in the form of a stand of suitable size and shape*
In order to save material and make the dispenser cheap, it will
be noticed from the drawings that the rear part has only three
sides 2A,2B and 2C* The top ends of the parts 2A and 2C are
held rotatably in suitable brackets 2F,2G provided for this
purpose at the rear top end of the front part 3. Small portions
2A A and 2 C C extend beyond the said brackets. To each of two
this protruding ends, is fixed, a small strip of metal, 2D
and 2 E*in a suitable angle, the purpose of which will be ex-
plained herein after.
The front part 3 is similarly made of several pieces of
extruded thin rods of aluminium. Principally this front part.is
formed as a channel shaped unit 4 having a forward end 5 and
the rear end 6 separated by sufficient space for freely acco-
modating dispensable roll material.
The night of the channel portion can be formed todesired extent
depending upon the number of rolls to be accomodated.
The top end of the channel portion, in the preferred
embodiment is formed as a rectangular bracket member 7. Similarly
the bottom end of the channel portion is also formed of a similar
rectangular bracket unit S. The corresponding front ends 7A,8A,
the corresponding rear end 7B,8B, the corresponding side ends
7C,8C and the corresponding other side ends 7D,8D are separated
from each other by sufficient height and held in position by
collectively marked 9 cross members which are front cross members
and cross members* However/ the number of cross members can vary
but sufficient number of cross members are provided to from a
rigid unite
L shaped front stand member 10 is fixedly held to the
rear end of the lower bracket member 8 at suitable and conve-
nient location. The L shaped front stand number 10, the lower
bracket member 8 ana upper bracket member 7, are conveniently
formed by taking a long extruded thin rod of aluminium metal
and bending it to the desired shape and size.
Both the top bracket member and the bottom bracket
member are of a size slightly larger than the length and dia-
meter of the roll to be dispensed with, so, that the rolls can easil'
slip through these bracket. The front cross members and rear
cross members and rear cross members guide these rolls and
hold them in position.
The end cross members prevent the rolls from exiting.
The bottom front stand As centrally located below the
bottom bracket member at distance slightly larger than the dia-
meter of the rollo At can be seen from the drawings, the front
stand is slightly bent upwards and inwardly in the operating
position*
Referring back to the rotatably held top ends of the
rear stand/ the two small metal brackets 2F and 2G are fixed in
such a way that, in the operating position these two brackets
rest against the rear ends of the top bracket at desired position
such that the rear stand can be opened only to a desired extent*
Thus, the rear stand can be pulled out to the allowable extend
to form a stable dispenser. In the collapsed condition, the rear
stand rests against the outer surface of the rear end of the top
and bottom bracket members.
The dispenser described above is portable and can be
accomodated in a small space on the table surface* However, to
enable the unit to be held to a wall surface or Cabinet surface
or doors or windows, an additional extension member 11 is fixed
to the rear end of the top bracket* This extension member is also
formed from thin extruded rod of Aluminium* A suitable suspending
means such as a bracket 12 having suitable hole or two or more
such brackets can be formed on the extension member and the
whole unit can be sxispended on suitable nail/nails or other
similar units* In such a situation the rear stand is in the
collapsed condition*
Various modification are possible for example all the
portions described above which are formed of extruded thin rods
of aluminium car* also be formed using sufficiently thick plastics
strips or wooden strips particularly bamboo strips.
Tlie heights of the different cross members can be
formed to desired extent to accomodate any desired members of
dispensable, rollso
It is not outside the scope of Invention to use hollow
and collapsible cross members stand members and bracket members
in order to increase or decrease -che size of the dispenser*
In operation, when a plurality of rolls are slipped
through the top bracket member^ these are guided by the cross
membersythen through the lower bracket member and only the first
introduced roll rests on the front letr member- In view of the
opening or mouth 13 below the bottom cross member, the roll
resting on the front leg can be easily taken out and automatically
the next roll occupies its positi no
Thus the dispenser also functions automatically©
The dispenser can be use" in shop outlets, in the stores
and kitchens, in packing sections. Such a removed roll can, if
desired held in the roll-accomodation cum-shearing device des-
cribed in our co- pending Application Noo
Extending the principles of this Invention, large size
roll dispensers can also be prepared such that rolls of sh«rt
material and others can be dispensed with in cloth shops which
would make the job easier for the dealing assistant©
