The present invention discloses a roof lamp comprising at least one primary source of light energy (RL) configured to emit light in the vehicle; plurality of secondary sources of light energy (R1, R2) configured to receive the light from said primary source of light energy (RL) and emit said light by reflection and refraction; at least one switch 'X' located configured to select various modes of primary source of light energy (RL) and said secondary sources of light energy (R1, R2) and in their combination.
The primary source of light energy (RL) is an active lamp located at the centre of roof of the vehicle. The secondary sources of light energy (R1, R2) are passive lamps consisting of reflector (R1) located at front side of the vehicle and reflector (R2) located at the rear side of the vehicle. The primary source of light energy
(RL) is configured to be mounted with two lenses to project light to secondary sources of light energy (R1, R2) for reflecting the light and illuminating. The secondary sources of light energy (R1, R2) are configured from highly reflective material for reflecting and illuminating the light received from primary source of light energy (RL). The primary source of light energy (RL) is configured with three light emitting diodes (LED) lamps (L1, L2, L3) wherein LED lamp L3 for emitting plain beam of light to illuminate the central area and LED lamps L1 and L2 constitute of projector lens to focus the light beam on the secondary sources of light energy consisting of reflectors R1 and R2. The primary source of light energy (RL) is optionally configured with two additional projectors for projecting light to two additional secondary sources of light energy on the door trim for providing as door hazard lamp and pedal lamp. The secondary sources of light energy consisting of reflector (R1) and reflector (R2) are optionally used as reading lamp by focusing the illumination of these reflectors R1 and R2 to the predetermined location. The switch 'X' is a shifter knob/rotary switch located on the source lamp to select the required predetermined mode of the lamp. The primary source of light energy (RL) is configured with three number of projector lenses, lens 'B' for projecting on front reflector, lens 'A' on rear reflector and lens „C for projecting on lower surface of vehicle. The primary source of light energy (RL) is configured with a lower surface of the having projector 'C' to illuminate the middle row area consisting of special projector lenses 'D' & 'E' for focusing the projected light on door area.
The switch „X‟ is configured to select plurality of switching positions of the lamp
consisting of
Switching ON the LED lamp 'L1'
Switching ON Rear side LED lamp 'L2'
Switching ON Front side LED lamp 'L3'
Switching ON Lower LED lamp 'L1' & Rear LED lamp 'L2'

This invention is applicable to the all the MUV/SUV vehicle platform which are having two or three roof lamps one is above Driver-Co-driver end, second is above middle row seats and or third is on or near to rear wall. The proposed invention is to have one common source roof lamp on middle row seats (on roof) and two passive lamps at both ends of roof (Front side & rear side of vehicle) seating/ boot area. The schematic constitute of source lamp (Active lamp RL) and other lamp will act as a Passive lamps.
There may be one Roof lamp (RL: Source lamp) act as an active roof lamp which is located at the centre of Roof and there shall be two reflectors (R1) located at Front side and (R2) located at the rear side, refer to Fig 1.0 for details. These reflectors play role as a passive roof lamps. There may be two switching modes on the source lamp (RL) first to switch “ON” lamp itself and second to focus the light on the reflectors (R1) and (R2). This source lamp (RL) have two lenses mounted on its sides, so that this lens may project light to passive lamps These reflectors may in turn reflect the light and illuminate the surrounding area. The passive lamps are made of strong reflective material so that, light came from source light may be diverted to passenger. Refer fig 2.0 for Roof lamp schematic details.
This Source lamp (RL) will constitute of three LED lamps (L1, L2, L3) refer fig 2 for details. L1 and L2 LED lamps constitute of projector lens to focus the light beam on the reflectors R1 and R2 respectively. L3 lamp will be normal LED to illuminate the central area. The shifter knob/rotary switch 'X' located on the source lamp helps to shift the required mode of the lamp. This source Roof lamp can be used as Door Hazard and pedal lamp by mounting two additional projectors and reflector on the door trim. Reflector 1 and Reflector 2 can be used as Reading lamp also by designing these reflectors for focusing the illumination to the specific location.
The Source lamp Fig. no. 03 is having Active light source (Power LED 1, 2 & 3) .these LED‟s are switched by Rotary switch 'X', installed on lower surface of the active lamp assembly.
As shown in Fig. 02 There will be Active source lamp installed in middle row of the said vehicle and two reflectors installed on the rear as well as front roof. These reflectors play role of passive lamps.
There will be three number of projector lenses provided each on front 'B', Rear 'A' & lower surface 'C' (projector lens 'D' & 'E' are part of lens 'C') respectively. Refer to Fig 5.
There will be special provision made on Rear 'A' and Front 'B' reflectors for providing the reading lamp illumination on each seating area in front as well as third row. Refer Fig no. 2.
There will be no. of switching positions on Rotary switch 'X'.
1st - To switch ON the LED lamp '1'
2nd - To switch ON Rear side LED lamp '2'
3rd - To switch ON Front side LED lamp '3'
4th - To switch ON Lower LED lamp '1'& Rear LED lamp '2'
5th - To switch ON Lower LED lamp '1' & Front LED lamp '3'
6th -To switch ON Front '3' & Rear '2'LED lamps.
Lower surface of the active source lamp having projector 'C', which consist of 'D' & 'E' special projector lenses. This projector 'C' is provided to illuminate the middle row area. These special projectors 'D' & 'E' will provided for focusing the projected light on door area, where reflector are fitted. Projector 'A' & 'B' are provided for projecting light on Rear and front reflectors respectively.
Following are different operating modes /conditions of roof lamp:
1. Source lamp Active (RL): In this condition only L3 LED lamp will be "ON" and L2 and L3 lamps will be "OFF".
2. Front roof lamp Active: In this condition only L1 LED lamp shall be "ON" and this can focus the light beam on the reflector located on the front area (Rl) to illuminate the respective front area.
3. Rear roof lamp Active: In this condition only L2 LED lamp shall be "ON" and this can focus the light beam on the reflector located on the front area (Rl) to illuminate the respective front area.
4. Front and Centre roof lamp Active: In this condition L3 and L1 LED lamp shall be "ON" to illuminate the respective centre and front area.
5. Rear and centre roof lamp Active: In this condition L3 and L2 LED lamp shall be "ON" to illuminate the respective centre and rear area.
6. Rear and front roof lamp Active: In this condition L1 and L2 LED lamp shall be "ON" to illuminate the respective front and rear area.
ADVANTAGES:
1. Only one Roof lamp shall be active which can be activated and non-activated according to the requirement.
