DESC:ROTATING PACKED BED UNIT ,CLAIMS:1. A rotating packed bed (RPB) unit (400) comprising one rotor (300), the rotor (300) comprising:
a first plate (304-1) and a second plate (304-2);
a plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) housed in between the first plate (304-1) and the second plate (304-2), wherein a first end of each of the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is attached to the first plate (304-1), and wherein a second end of each of the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is attached to the second plate (304-2);
a shaft (402) coupled to one of the first plate (304-1) and the second plate (304-2) for rotating the rotor (300); and
a liquid inlet (306-1) for receiving a liquid phase and a gas inlet (406) for receiving a gas phase.
2. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rotor (300) further comprises a pipe (404) connected to the second plate (304-2).
3. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rotor (300) further comprises a liquid outlet (408) and a gas outlet (306-2).
4. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first plate (304-1) and the second plate (304-2) are circular in shape.
5. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is concentric.
6. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 5, wherein at least one of the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) comprises one or more segments, wherein the one or more segments are coupled together to form a circular ring of the annular permeable packing elements (302).
7. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is arranged based on a surface area associated with each of the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302).
8. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first plate (304-1) is positioned parallel to the second plate (304-2).
9. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is corrosion resistant.
10. The RPB unit (400) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of annular permeable packing elements (302) is made of at least one of stainless steel, nickel, nichrome, iron, silicon carbide, aluminum, carbon, and wire mesh; and wherein the annular permeable packing elements (302) comprise of one or more structured packings.
