Abstract: The invention relates a rotating passenger seat for automotive vehicle. Co driver passenger seat is provided with a mechanism comprising a movable and rotate able top plate mounted over the upward movable means in the centre of the bottom plate by means of a pair rotational plates with a rotational plate bearing in middle. The seat is having frame structure over which the said bottom plate is fixed. At least a pair of latch, symmetrically located, releasable by means of latch link fixed to the said bottom plate and enabled to engage to the top plate when top plate is pressed down. A linkage engaging to the said latches passed over a pair of pulley, fixed at bottom the said frame structure, connected to an actuating plunger. A push button with linkage means provided to actuate the said plunger. And arrangement is such that when the push button is pressed the linkage actuate the said plunger there by latch releases the top plate thereby top plate move upward and enabled to rotate through 180° and when pressed down top plate latch engages the top plate.

THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION DESCRIBES THE NATURE OF THE INVENTION AND MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED
FIELD OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The present invention is related to seat used in automotive vehicles. More particularly the present invention is related to the rotating mechanism of passenger seat of an automotive vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
ln today's fast life usually high level personalities have a very busy schedule and they don't have time for detailed discussion with their subordinates / colleagues. So the generally some discussions are conducted during the drive for which the concerned colleagues have to travel. If the member/s of discussion panel sits on co-driver seat, the fixed position of the seat becomes the constraint to have effective discussion. Occupant of co-driver seat needs to turn his neck frequently to look to the occupants of second row making his seating uncomfortable and inconvenient for the discussion.
Therefore, the need arose to provide the co-driver seat rotating as and when desired by the occupant to make the communication / discussion more effective. A variety of seat rotating mechanisms is available in public domain which has met with varying degrees of success.
International patent application No. WO.2008095723 and German patent application No. DE.102007007202 describes seating arrangement in a military vehicle, particularly in a guiding vehicle. The invention proposes a seating arrangement, which provides for dual use of the existing seat(s), in this example for the driver and passenger, wherein during driving operation both the driver's seat and the passenger seat are oriented in the driving direction, and during the so-called stationary operation these seats are rotated by 180 degrees in relation to the driving direction. During driving operation, the users have all the equipment available that is required to fulfill their tasks during driving operation. During transition to the stationary operation, these two seats are transferred to the working position by rotating
the seats, preferably to 180, if the devices for fulfilling the tasks are disposed in the vehicle 180 opposite from the driving direction.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The main object of the present invention is to provide a novel and simple seat rotating mechanism for an automotive vehicle.
STATEMENT OF THE 1NVENTION:-
Accordingly the invention provides A rotating passenger seat for automotive vehicle provided with a mechanism comprises of movable and rotate able top plate mounted over the upward movable means in the centre of the bottom plate by means of a pair rotational plates with a rotational plate bearing in middle; the seat is having frame structure over which the said bottom plate fixed; at least a pair of latch , symmetrically located, releasable by means of latch link fixed to the said bottom plate and enabled to engage to the top plate when top plate is pressed down; a linkage engaging to the said latches passed over a pair of pulley fixed at bottom the said frame structure, connected to an actuating plunger; a push button with linkage means provided to actuate the said plunger; and arrangement is such that when the push button is pressed the linkage actuate the said plunger there by latch releases the top plate thereby top plate move upward and enabled to rotate through 180° and when pressed down top plate latch engages the top plate.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:-
The objects and features of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following description of the invention taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 shows the co-driver seat with seat rotating mechanism in accordance with the present invention using compression spring for upward moving means for seat.
Figure 2 shows exploded view of seat rotating mechanism in accordance with the present invention using hydraulic system in upward moving means.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
Referring to Figs. 1 & 2, seat rotating mechanism comprises of top plate (1), bottom plate (2), latch (3), rotational plate (4), rotational plate bearing (5), spring (6), plunger/actuator (7), pulley (8), latch link (9), plunger link (10) and push button (11). Top plate (1) and base plate (2) are connected with each other with the Help of latch (3). The base plate (2) is permanently fixed whereas top plate (1) is rotateable / free to rotate when the latch (3) is released. In between top plate (1) and base plate (2) two rotational plates (4) are provided which are separated from each other by rotational plate bearing (5). Through the center of the base piate, sprig housing (12) is attached which houses a spring (6). Spring is used to put the seat in compression in the locked condition of the latch (3).
In this mechanism, the co-driver's seat gets lifted, rotates and gets rearranged. The system works on a spring which carries the load for the seat (co driver seat) which is mounted below the seat and latches for the seat to get fixed in the proper place. When the co-driver presses the button below the seat; input is given to the linkage (cable or rod links) which gives input to the latches. This makes the seat latches to disengage. As the seat is continuously pressured by the spring fitted under the seat on the base plate as shown in the figure, the seat rises upwards. The seat can now be rotated 180 deg making the seat face the backwards. Now the person can be seated following which the seat come down and get latched in the required position now the co driver is able to face the second row passenger in the vehicle. When the co-driver wants to get the seat at its original position, again the same process is followed for bringing the seat back to its original position.
Thus the system has the advantage of rotating the seat as per the user's requirement to face the second row passenger for any purpose like business discussion, consuming food, and like other applications.
The upward moving means is a hydraulic piston placed in the hydraulic cylinder fitted in lower side bottom plate and actuated by hydraulic pump as shown in figure 2. The push button is linked to operating hydraulic ptston and releasing latch. When latch releases top plate due to hudraulic piston actuation top plate moves upward. The seat may be rotated through 180° and latched by sitting over the seat.
Similarly pneumatic piston cylinder may be used similar to hydraulic system. The upward moving means may be a mechanical means such as screw mechanism operated by a crank lever provided at bottom. The screw may be operated by rack pinion mechanism linked to push pull rod from the front.
