DESC:GEMSTONE DATA TRANSFER USING DATA CARRIER ,CLAIMS:1. A method of transferring gemstone data from a gemstone planner machine (102), the method comprising:
estimating, by the gemstone planner machine, planning data based on geometry of a rough gemstone (106);
encoding, by an encoder, the gemstone data at the gemstone planner machine (102) into a data carrier, wherein the gemstone data pertains to at least one of: the planning data including one or more physical attributes of a finished gemstone (116), and one or more identifiers identifying the rough gemstone (106); and
transferring the data carrier from the gemstone planner machine (102) to a gemstone-cutting machine (104), wherein the gemstone-cutting machine (104) obtains the finished gemstone by processing the rough gemstone (106) based on the planning data encoded in the data carrier.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the transferring the data carrier comprising:
associating the data carrier with the rough gemstone (106) by fixing the data carrier onto a package (112) of the rough gemstone (106); and
transferring the package (112) containing the rough gemstone (106) to the gemstone-cutting machine (104).

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the gemstone-cutting machine (104) process the rough gemstone (106) by obtaining a decoded gemstone data from a data reader (114), wherein the data reader (114) decodes the data carrier to obtain the decoded gemstone data.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the data carrier is one of a barcode, a Near Field Communication (NFC) tag, and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag.

5. The method as claimed in the claim 4, wherein the barcode is one of a one-dimensional bar code and a Quick Response (QR) barcode.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rough gemstone (106) is selected from a group comprising a diamond, an emerald, a ruby, a sapphire, a crystal and a pearl.

7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more physical attributes of the finished gemstone (116) comprises: shape, weight, color grade, cut grade, clarity grade, crown height, crown angle, pavilion angle, pavilion depth, table size, total depth, star length, lower girdle length, and girdle thickness.

8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more identifiers include at least one of a grade of the rough gemstone (106), a lot number, and a model number.

9. A system (100) for transferring gemstone data from a gemstone planner machine (102) to a gemstone-cutting machine (104), the system (100) comprises:
an encoder to encode the gemstone data at the gemstone planner machine (102) into a data carrier, wherein the gemstone data pertains to at least one of: planning data including one or more physical attributes of a finished gemstone (116), and one or more identifiers identifying a rough gemstone (106);
a means (112) to transfer the data carrier from the gemstone planner machine (102) to the gemstone-cutting machine (104); and
a decoder (114) to decode the data carrier to obtain a decoded gemstone data at the gemstone-cutting machine (104).

10. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the decoder is a data reader (114) communicatively coupled to the gemstone-cutting machine (104).

11. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the data carrier is one of a barcode, a Near Field Communication (NFC) tag, and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag.

12. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the means to transfer the data carrier is a package (112) of the rough gemstone (116).

13. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the gemstone planner machine (102) estimates the planning data based on geometry of the rough gemstone (106).

14. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the system (100) includes a database having one or more records to store the decoded gemstone data, and wherein data fields of a record associated with the finished gemstone (116) are automatically populated with the decoded gemstone data.

15. The system (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the gemstone-cutting machine (104) process the rough gemstone (106), to obtain the finished gemstone (116), based on the planning data in the decoded gemstone data.
