Specification

FIELD 5 OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to protective caps and more particularly to the
safety caps for ice formation sensors which need special protection during their
handling and storage.
10
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The protection of Sensors is very critical requirement during assembly process.
Generally, sensors are finely tuned to certain value which defines their sensitivity.
15 During fabrication, sensors undergo several processes like welding, polishing including
other assembly processes. Many times, the sensors are rejected or reworked due to
damage to their sensitive parts.
The present invention protects the sensitive part of the Sensors from such
damages.
20

25
In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a safety cap to
protect the head of Sensor.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a smaller
safety cap.
30 In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a lighter
safety cap.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a rigid
protective cap.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a safety
35 cap which holds firmly the head of Sensor during all assembly operations.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide Knurling
on the outer side walls of safety cap to ensure effective grip by user.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a safety
cap whose inner dimension match with the outer profile of Sensor’s head.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
frictionless and non sticky intermediary 5 diary between the safety cap and Sensor’ head.
Briefly, the present invention is a small, light weighted and rigid safety cap which
protects the head of sensor during the assembly, handling and storage. The safety cap
includes a thin parchment paper intermediary for frictionless and non sticky purposes.
10 This safety cap is easy to use and ensures the protection against the damages during
the handling and storage.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
5
Referring to Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 the present invention is safety cap for
protection of Sensor’s head during its assembly, handling and storage operations.
The safety cap (refer figures 1 and 2) is designed to protect the Sensitive part on
the Sensor’s head which is tuned to a certain value. The inner 10 dimensions of the safety
Cap is designed in such a way that it matches with the outer dimension of the Sensor’s
head. The outer side wall of the Safety Cap is knurled to ensure the effective grip by the
user during placing and removing on the Sensor.
15 This safety cap is particularly designed for the head of Sensors used for ice
detection. Referring to figure 3, the Sensor (4) is having two clamps (1) on its head (2)
which are tuned to a certain values to match the sensitivity requirements. A gap (3) is
maintained between the Sensor’s head and the Clamps. Any disturbance in this gaps
leads to change of the output of the Sensor in other words its sensitivity gets affected
20 which results in the rework or sometimes rejection of the Sensors.
Referring to figure 4, the Safety Cap (6) is placed on the Sensor’s head from the
top side. A thin parchment paper (5) is placed in between the Sensor and the safety cap
to ensure the friction less and non sticky intermediary. It also makes the Safety cap to
25 hold firmly the sensor. Using this safety cap, the Sensor (4) can be protected from the
damages during operations performed on it.
The material of the Safety cap (6) is an impact resistance plastic material which
ensures its protection during all handling operations. The requirement of soft and light
30 weighted safety cap is accomplished. The safety cap is made up of one piece shell of
impact resistance material. This safety cap is designed in such a way that the gap
between the Sensor head (2) and the clamps (1) over the sensor is maintained without
hampering its safety.
The inner dimension of the safety cap (6) is having slots which are designed in
such a way that the clamps could not be harmed even at high impacts. The slots on the
side walls of the safety cap ensures the easy fit of the Safety cap over the Sensor head
without disturbing the sensitive clamps 5 amps of the Sensor’s head. The parchment paper (5)
placed over the Sensor to cover the entire sensitive parts. The safety caver is placed
over this parchment paper which holds the sensor tightly. The side wall of the safety cap
is having thickness to protect the side impacts to the Sensors head (2). Being cylindrical
side walls it covers and protects all the sensitive portion of the sensor effectively.
10
The safety cap is easy to use as well as easy to store. The safety cap (6)
comprising one piece of shell made of impact resistance, rigid material and forming a
dome shaped on the Sensors (4) head ensures the protection against all mechanical
impacts to the Sensor head (2) during its assembly operations, handling, storage and
15 transportation.

WE CLAIMS:-
