Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a safety shutter assembly adapted to be configured with switchgear. The assembly incudes a pair of rods having guide ways. One or more shutter plates slidably configured over the pair of rods and configured to slide, when voltage circuit breaker of the switch gear is racked out, through the guide ways. One or more patches configured over the one or more shutter plates, and are facing conductors of the voltage circuit breaker, and the one or more patches comprises electrochromic materials for all phases.

particularly the present disclosure relates to metallic shutter pate assembly for voltage circuit breaker of the switchgear.
BACKGROUND

voltage circuit breaker (VCB) or PT consists of safety shutters which closes or blocks the access to live conductor. These Conductor in VCB compartment are not earthed or switched off many times & remains on during maintenance and the personnel working in compartment may not know the current status of voltage on these conductors. This will pose a threat safety to personnel working in VCB compartment.

indicate presence of voltage to a person who is working on the VCB.
OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
[0005] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one
embodiment herein satisfies are as listed herein below.
[0006] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which indicate presence of voltage in the VCB conductors.
[0007] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which is cost effective.
[0008] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which is efficient.
[0009] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which is easy to use and requires less maintenance.
[0010] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which include passive voltage indicator which will change
color if voltage is present in conductor and gives a visual indication.
[0011] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which requires no additional power source for detection of
voltage in conductors.
[0012] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which is backward compatible and can be used with the
existing switchgears with small or no modification.
[0013] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a shutter
assembly for VCB, which eliminates any risk of electric shock to a person doing
maintenance work.

particularly the present disclosure relates to metallic shutter pate assembly for
voltage circuit breaker of the switchgear.

of rods having guide ways. One or more shutter plates slidably configured over
the pair of rods and configured to slide, when voltage circuit breaker of the switch

the one or more shutter plates, and are facing conductors of the voltage circuit
breaker, and the one or more patches comprises electrochromic materials for all
phases.

configured with switchgear can include a pair of rods 102 having guide ways 108.
One or more shutter plates 104-1, 104-2 (collectively referred as 104) can be
slidably configured over the pair of rods 102. The one or more shutter plates can
be configured to slide over the guide ways when voltage circuit breaker of the
switch gear is racked out of the switchgear. One or more patches 106 can be
configured over the one or more shutter plates 104, The one or more patches can
face one or more conductors 108 of the voltage circuit breaker.
[0038] In an embodiment, the one or more patches 106 can include
electrochromic materials for all phases (Red, Yellow, Green). The electrochromic
material can include any or combination of tungsten trioxide (W03), and
Molybdenum trioxide (Mo03). A colour of the one or more patches can change
(as shown in FIG. IB) from white or transparent to red when the one or more
conductors have a voltage. This can indicate a worker, who is doing some
maintenance work, about voltage level of the one or more conductors so that the
worker can take necessary measures to avoid any accident. The one or more
patches can restore to their original colour when the voltage is switched off.
[0039] In an embodiment, the one or more conductors 108 can include a
busbar side conductors and cable side conductors. The one or more shutter plates 104 can comprise a first shutter plate 104-1 for the busbar side conductors, and a second shutter plate 104-2 for cable side conductors. A presence of voltage is detected by a special color changing material (one or more patches) present on the one or more metallic shutter plates 104. On knowing the presence of voltage
source in VCB Compartment the personnel or worker can become extra conscious and have confirm knowledge of hazard near him, which enables him/her to act accordingly to ensure his safety or switch off the supply.
[0040] In an embodiment, change of color in electro-chromatic material is
caused by change in internal electric domain alignment in material, on removal of electric field, electric domains get realigned and reverts back to its original color. These color changes are reversible type and on removal of field the color of material restores to normal. Small patches or portion of electro chromatic material are mounted or pasted on metallic shutter plate 104 facing the live conductor. These small patches of special material will change color to Red (or other predetermined depending on material characteristic) on presence of voltage in conductor and restores to normal white/transparent color when voltage is switched off.

We Claim:
1. A safety shutter assembly adapted to be configured with switchgear, the
assembly comprising:
a pair of rods having guide ways;
one or more shutter plates slidably configured over the pair of rods and configured to slide, when voltage circuit breaker of the switch gear is racked out, through the guide ways;
one or more patches configured over the one or more shutter plates, and are facing conductors of the voltage circuit breaker, wherein the one or more patches comprises electrochromic materials for all phases.
2. The safety shutter assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein a colour of the one or more patches changes when the one or more conductors have a voltage.
3. The safety shutter assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more patches restore to original colour when the voltage is switched off.
4. The safety shutter assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more conductors comprises a busbar side conductors and cable side conductors.
5. The safety shutter assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more shutter plates comprise a first shutter plate for the busbar side conductors, and a second shutter plate for cable side conductors.
6. The safety shutter assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the electrochromic material comprises any or combination of tungsten trioxide (W03), Molybdenum trioxide ( Mo03), and liquid polymer display film (LPD).
