FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a scuff plate for holding an automotive carpet. BACKGROUND
In automobiles, more particularly the expensive models, it is customary to provide a fabric carpet which covers the floor panels to provide a pleasing and luxurious appearance. The carpet is generally chosen of a color which blends with the interior colors of the automobile, and is attached to the automobile floor panels during the assembly of the automobile as a permanent installation. One of the attach points for the carpet is provided at the door openings of the body wherein a sheet metal element is installed over the edge of the carpet to retain the carpet in place adjacent the floor panel. In prior art the carpet is held in position with the help of a screw plate. By the use of the screw plate, raw edges of the carpet are visible. The raw edges also come in the path of the passenger and also reduce the life of the carpet.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to increase the life of the carpet.
Another object of the present invention is to provide better finish to fixing of the automotive carpet.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide an obstruction free entry to vehicle entrant.
Yet another object of the present invention is to cover the carpet edge.
The invention is described with reference to an embodiment given hereinafter. It may however be understood that the embodiment is only by way of example and that the invention may be exemplified in many other ways obvious to a person skilled in the art.

DESCRIPTION
A scuff plate embodying the present invention is shown in Figure-1 and Figure-2. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of scuff plate embodying the present invention. Figure-3 shows the isometric view of the scuff plate 202 embodying the present invention and Figure-4 shows the sectional view of the scuff plate 202. As shown in Figure-2 the scuff plate 202 is sandwiched between primary seal of door 204 and floor. In the present invention the scuff plate 202 holds a carpet 206 to cover the carpet edge. The scuff plate 202 provides an obstruction free entry to vehicle entrant. As the carpet 206 is held securely by the scuff plate 202, the carpet 206 does not obstruct the entry of the entrant. It also provides better finish and increases the life of carpet.
It is reiterated that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. Various other embodiments of the invention will be apparent to a person skilled in the art or follow from routine experimentation.
