Specification

Field of Invention:
The present invention relates to sealing system for window profiles. More particularly the present invention relates to sealing system for window profiles to prevent sound, water, dust, fire and air to pass through.
Background:
Now a days wooden window profiles have been replaced by the plastic of fiber polymer window panes. These window panes require a special seal to prevent air, dust, moisture, and sound padssage.
The conventional seals for movable window panes are brush type seal. The brush type seals are inconvenient as they do not prevent the sound, dust, air, fire and water to pass through. Again frequent failure in existing brush type seal allows rain water enter inside. The dust deposited between the brush type seal makes the sliding of windows inconvenient. The whole window has to be replaced if any type of failure occurs in the existing seal even-though the cost of existing seal is just 2-3% of the total product cost. Conventional seal being made up nylon it cannot withstand fire and high temperature. The brush type seal is not recyclable.
The object of the present invention is to obviate the above drawbacks of the prior art and provide a technically effective and sound sealing system for sliding window.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a sealing system for window profiles to prevent sound, water, dust, fire and air to pass through.
Summary of Invention:
In order to achieve said objective, present invention provides a sealing system for sliding window comprising a unitary sealing member (1) adapted to be secured into the window profile wherein two molded sealing elements (2 & 3) are secured together to form said sealing member and at least one of the sealing element is globular or balloon like with a protective polymer coating. The invention further provides unitary sealing member wherein said unitary sealing member is a single piece construction having a globular/balloon like head portion and lower flat tubular base portion.
Further, lower flat tubular base portion is formed of a rigid thermoplastic polymer to provide the requisite rigidity in base whereas the globular or balloon like head portion is made up of soft thermoplastic polymer to provide requisite flexibility so that window can slide easily. Also, the globular or
balloon like head portion is having a coating of polyester for easy sliding and closing action without any friction or sticking. Furthermore, the globular or balloon like head portion, may optionally comprise one or more partition walls inside the cavity of globule or balloon and may optionally have arms on the outer surface.
Brief Description of the Accompanying Drawings:
The invention will now be described with reference to accompanying drawings:
Fig.1 shows the cross-sectional view of prior art in assembly.
Fig.2 shows the cross-sectional view of sealing system for sliding window of
present invention in assembly.
Fig.3 shows the cross-sectional view of sealing system for sliding window.
Fig.4 shows the cross-sectional views of different embodiments of sealing
system for sliding window.
Detailed Description:
For the purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will be made to the embodiments illustrated in the drawings and specific terms will be used to describe the same. It will nevertheless be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alterations and further modifications in the illustrated device, and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated therein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory of the invention and are not intended to be restrictive thereof.
Through out the patent specification, a convention employed is that in the appended drawings, like numerals denote like components.
With reference to the accompanying drawings and initially to figure 1, a cross-sectional view of prior art in assembly is illustrated. The prior art sealing systems consist of brush type seal (1). The brush type seals are inconvenient as they do not prevent the sound, dust, air, fire and water to pass through. The dust deposited in the brush type seal thereby making the sliding of windows inconvenient. Conventional seal being made up nylon it cannot withstand fire and high temperature. The brush type seal is not recyclable.
With reference to the accompanying drawings and to figure 2, a cross-sectional view of sealing system for sliding window of present invention in assembly in accordance with an embodiment of the invention is illustrated. The present sealing system for sliding window provides the unitary sealing member (1) adapted to be secured into the window profile wherein at least one of the sealing elements is globular or balloon like. The present seal is convenient as they it prevents the sound, dust, air, fire and water to pass through. Also it provides a convenient movement of the window and is more durable and long lasting than the sealing systems of the prior art.
With reference to the accompanying drawings and to figure 3, an embodiment of sealing system for sliding window as provided by the invention is provided with a unitary sealing member (1) adapted to be secured into the window profile wherein two molded sealing elements (2 & 3) are secured together to form said sealing member and at least one of the sealing element is globular or balloon like with a protective polymer coating.
The unitary sealing member (1) for sliding window is a single piece construction having a globular/balloon like head portion (2) to fit into the groves of sliding window panel and lower flat tubular base portion (3) to be firmly attached to base of sliding window panel. The head portion (2) encloses a hollow cavity to provide flexibility to the sealing system.
The lower flat tubular base portion (3) is formed of a rigid thermoplastic polymer to provide the requisite rigidity in base whereas the globular or balloon like head portion (2) is made up of soft thermoplastic polymer to provide requisite flexibility so that window can slide easily. Preferably the thermoplastic polymer is polyvinyl chloride so that it is be resistant to fire. Also it makes the sealing system recyclable. Low migration and other thermoplastic elastomer polymer properties are the special properties of PVC, which helps to get the desired result. Property of PVC Special treatment is provided on the surface of the seal so as to make it leak proof form air, water and dust. A special coating of polyester is provided on the outer surface of said sealing system, which helps in easy sliding and closing action without any friction or sticking.
Further, the globular/balloon like head portion (2) is having a coating of polyester, for easy sliding and closing action without any friction or sticking.
In accordance, with an embodiment and figure 4, the present invention is also provided with one or more partition walls in the inner cavity of globule or balloon to provide necessary support to the sealing system.
Further according to another embodiment of the invention the unitary sealing member (1), may optionally have one or more arms on the outer surface of the globule. It is preferred that there exist at least two arms on the unitary sealing member (1).
It will readily be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments herein shown. Thus variations may be made within the scope and spirit of the accompanying claims without sacrificing the principal advantages of the invention.
