Abstract: This paper proposes a solution for seamless commuter fare management aimed at enhancing the efficiency and convenience ’of urban transportation systems. By Leveraging modern technologies such as contactless payment systems, mobile applications, and data analytics, the proposed system aims to simplify fare payment processes, reduce waiting times, and improve overall commuter experience. Key components ofthe system include real-time fare calculation, automatic fare deduction, and personalized Fare recommendations based on commuter behavior and preferences. The seamless commuter fare management system allows commuters to register, by tapping their. calculates—fares in real-time based on»various factors, automatically deducts fares for users to track transactions and update information.
4. DESCRIPTION
Seamless commuter fare management using Arduino and RFID that streamlines the
process of paying for and accessing trarisportation services across different modes of
transit within a region or city. The goal is to create a unified experience for
commuters, allowing them to seamlessly transfer between various modes of
transportation such as buses, trains, and subways without needing to purchase
separate tickets or fares for each leg of their journey.
BACKGROUND ART
In present days transportation using bus has become more popular in our day to day
life. Insufficient cash in our wallet doesn’t allow us to use the transport facility. For
ease, cashless transportation will be more convenient in the‘situation.
With seamless fare‘management, passengers no longer need to purchase separate
tickets or fares for each mode 0ftransportation. They can pay for their entire journey
using a single payment method, such as a smart card or mobile app, making the transit
experience more convenient and hassle-free.
Here Arduino Uno is used since it is small in size, highly speed performance and faster
processing time. We have used RFID reader to read card used by the passengers. The
passenger will have RFID card using whichxthey can travel to their destination point.
A LCD is used to diéblay the availability ofthe seats in the bus when the passenger
scans the RFID card when they enter inside the bus. It displays the distance travelled
and the cost for distance travelled. When the passengers scans the RFID card at the
time when the passenger leaves the bus.
NOVEL SYSTEM AND METHOD:
Seamless commuter fare management operates based on RFID reader. When bus stops
passengers can enter the bus by swiping the RFID card. Arduino shows the availability
of seats based on the number of passengers seated. By using servomotor bus doors
will be opened and closed automatically. When bus stops entry and exit door will open
automatically, while bus étarts two doors will be closed. Based on the number ofstops
crossed, fare will be detected. Amount will be detected according to the distance
travelled,
