PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention
FIELD OF INVENTION:
The present invention relates to an anchorage for the seat belt slider in an automobile.
BACKGROUND:
Seat belts in automobile serve the crucial purpose of occupant safety. The design of the seat belt is crucial and needs to meet the pre-set international standards such as per 76/115/EEC test conducted for seat belt anchorage strength testing. The design of a seat belt determines its strength and a robust design is necessary to ensure high anchorage strength in the seat belt.
Fig.l illustrates a general seat belt anchorage provided in vehicles. A slider 102 holds the seat belt while a D ring 104 and a slider nut 106 are provided on the slider surface for support. The slider is fixed to the vehicle at both the ends. This fixation at the ends alone may not be sufficient to rigidly hold the slider in position in case of strong impact. The strength of the seat belt slider needs to be reinforced in order to make it capable of sustaining desired load.
Hence, there exists a need for an arrangement to provide reinforcement to the seat belt anchorage thereby preventing detachment of the slider under the impact of heavy load.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
An object of the present invention is to provide reinforced anchorage to the seat belt slider.
1
Another object of the present invention is to prevent detachment of the slider from the vehicle body.
Yet another object of the present invention relates to providing enhanced passenger safety during high impact conditions such as high impulse braking.
Various modifications of the disclosed objects, as well as alternate objects of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in the art upon reference to the description of the invention. It is therefore contemplated that such modifications can be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.
DESCRIPTION:
The method and system of the present invention discloses a clamp mechanism provided to reinforce the strength of the seat belt to prevent the detachment of the slider under the impact of high impulse load.
Fig.2 illustrates a clamp mechanism 200 provided over the slider 102. The clamp mechanism 200 mainly comprises a clamp 202, placed over the slider below the D ring 104.
In one embodiment of method and system of the present invention disclosed herein, the clamp 202 is fixed to the slider 102 by the slider nut 106. In another embodiment of method and system of the present invention, the clamp 202 is not provided over the slider nut 106 and is placed anywhere along the slider surface, above or below the slider nut 106.
2
The clamp 202 is fixed at both the sides of the slider 102. The clamp 202 is fixed at either sides of the slider 102 using a pair of rivet 204 at. Examples of other mechanisms that may be used to fix the clamp 202 include but are not restricted to, bolts, screws and welded joints.
Fig.3 depicts a two dimensional front view, top view and side view of the clamp mechanism 200 provided over the slider 102.
Although the invention has been described with reference to specific embodiments, this description is not meant to be construed in a limiting sense. Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternate embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in the art upon reference to the description of the invention. It is therefore contemplated that such modifications can be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.
