The seat base structure for two wheeler having a cavity is formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger"s seat wherein the article storage box is disposed.
Seat Structure for Two Wheeler
Field of the Invention:
The present subject matter in general, relates to "Seat Structure for Two Wheeler" and more particularly relates to saddle type seat structure.
Background of the invention:
A seat structure is typically elongated saddle style having a front operator's seat and a rear passenger seat. The seat is supported by a seat base. The seat base is generally fashioned from rexine material. The seat base is too elongated having a peripheral configuration of the desired configuration of seat. On the top of the seat base a shock absorbing foam base is provided. The foam base has a peripheral configuration complementary to that of seat base imparting overall desired configuration to the seat. Mounting hardware allow attachment of the seat to the top surface of a vehicle frame. The seat base is generally provided with contours and beading for different mounting points. The bottom surface of the seat base is the exposed area, rest part of the seat is covered with rexine. Typically the width to length of seat is in 1:3 proportion. In saddle type seat structure, because of the huge seat width a lot of space below passenger seat area is available, and this area remains utilized.
Hence the object of the present invention is to provide a seat structure which is more advantageous to customer.
Summary of the Invention:
The present invention has been devised in view of the above said requirement and it is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a seat structure for holding an article storage box.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a seat structure with provisions for accommodating a detachable article storage box.
Another object of the present invention to provide a safe article storage box in the seat.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a seat structure with article storage box which is cost effective in nature.
Further object of the present invention is to locate an article storage box below a seat base, thereby not disturbing external overall appearance of the vehicle.
Further scope of applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.
Brief description of the Drawings:
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein
FIG. 1 is a conventional motorcycle.
FIG. 2 shows the seat base according to the present invention.
FIG. 3 shows the bottom surface of the seat base according to the present invention.
FIG. 4 shows the article box configured to the seat base according to the present invention.
Detailed Description of the Drawings:
The present invention now will be described more fully hereinafter with different embodiments. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather those embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.
The subject matter of present invention relates to seat base structure for two wheelers. For the purpose of illustration, it is described with the help of a motorcycle.
With reference to figure 1 a motorcycle comprises of a frame (101), front fork (102) attached to a pivot tube (201) of the vehicle frame, a front wheel (103) attached to these front forks (102), a handle bar (104) connected to the front forks (102), a fuel tank (105) attached so as to straddle an upper part of the vehicle frame, a seat (106) attached to the upper rear portion of the vehicle frame, an engine unit (107) attached to the lower front section of the vehicle frame, a swing arm (108) attached to a lower rear section of the vehicle frame, suspended by a rear shock absorber (not shown) from the vehicle frame and a rear wheel attached to a rear end of swing arm (108). The intake system of the engine comprises of a fuel air metering device such as a carburetor (109), intake duct and an air cleaner. The exhaust system of the engine comprises of exhaust pipe and a muffler. The motorcycle is also provided with a side cover for covering a side section of the vehicle frame, a seat cover for covering a rear section of the vehicle frame below the seat, a front fender (110) for covering an upper part of the front wheel (103), and a rear fender (111) for covering an upper part of the rear wheel (112). The drive from the engine (107) is transmitted from the engine to the driven wheel sprocket mounted on the rear wheel hub mounted on the rear wheel assembly.
Referring to figure 2, the seat (106) is a saddle type seat, wherein it is composed of support structure otherwise known as seat base (201). The seat base (201) is preferably of resin. A foam base is disposed over the seat base and matching the configuration of the seat base. A seat cover is formed above the said foam base.
The said foam base is bonded or otherwise appropriately attached to said seat base (201). Referring to figure 3, the saddle type seat base (201) bottom surface (301) includes a front cavity corresponding to the operator's seat and a rear cavity (202) corresponding to passenger's seat, when viewed from bottom. The cavity or space formed (202) on seat base bottom side (301), corresponding to passenger's seat is utilised to hold an article storage box.
According to one of the embodiment of the present invention, at least two snap fit (302) mounting provisions are provided at a mid way portion of the saddle type seat base and at least one lug (303) towards the rear end of the cavity (202) corresponding to passenger's seat. A preferably rectangular article storage box (401) is held or disposed in the cavity (202) corresponding to passenger's seat with the help of said two snap fit are located towards the edge in the width wise direction of seat base and at least one lug in the centre towards the rear end of the cavity corresponding to passenger's seat. The said arrangements allows the article storage box (401) to be removable attached to the seat base (201) and can be used as a portable article storage box, which the customer can carry with him whenever required.
According to another aspect of present invention, an article storage box one end edges is screwed (304) to the midway portion of saddle type seat base and other end of the article storage box is held by a lug (303) provided in the centre of the seat base towards the rear end of the cavity corresponding to passenger's seat.
The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the claims.
We Claim:
1. A saddle type seat base structure for two wheeler with a cavity formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger's seat comprising
at least two snap fit mounting provisions at a mid way portion of the saddle type seat base and
at least one lug towards the rear end of the cavity corresponding to passenger's seat
wherein an article storage box is disposed in a cavity formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger's seat
2. A saddle type seat base structure for two wheeler with a cavity formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger's seat comprising
at least two screw mounting provisions at a mid-way portion of the saddle type seat base and
at least one lug towards the rear end of the cavity corresponding to passenger's seat
wherein an article storage box is disposed in a cavity formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger's seat.
3. The saddle type seat base structure for two wheeler as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2, wherein the said article storage box is preferably made in a shape matching the profile of the cavity formed in the bottom side of the seat base corresponding to passenger's seat.
