Seaweed Based Gel Type Organic Manure And A Preparation Method Thereof

Abstract: The proposed invention is related to a gel based product prepared from brown seaweed, used as an agricultural bio-stimulant with using eco-friendly Enzyme-assisted extraction technology. It is useful to be applied in all type of crops in the various application methods to reduce application cost and also to avoid chemical fertilizers that are polluting to soil and other natural environments. The enzyme is a food-grade digestive enzyme, can be used to macerate the tissues and break down the cell walls of natural matrices and releasing cell contents. This is particularly important for marine algae, since cell walls and cutiles are made up of chemically complex and heterogeneous bio-molecules. In the proposed method, temperature, pH, proportion of substrate to enzyme, type of solvent (buffer with appropriate pH) and agitation are important parameters to be considered

Specification

Claims:We Claim:
1. A seaweed-based gel type organic manure, comprising:
Sargassum wightii mixed with 1-2% w/w enzyme solution and a dispersing agent with pH value between 5 and 6.
2. The seaweed-based gel type organic manure, as claimed in claim 1, wherein, the dispersing agent is Alphox 200.
3. A method of preparation of seaweed-based gel type organic manure from a marine seaweed, comprising the steps of:
washing the seaweed with fresh water to remove all epiphytes and sand particles;
weighing of cleaned seaweed and mixing 1-2% w/w Enzyme solution followed by adding a dispersing agent in a reactor vessel to form a mixture, wherein the pH of the mixture is maintained between 5 and 6 by addition of either acid or base buffer chemicals;
boiling the mixture at 50 o C to 60 o C for about 2 hours;
filtering of the boiled mixture through filter press to separate solids and seaweed liquid;
pumping of the seaweed liquid to a processing tank and adding humic acid in the ratio of 5:1 to the seaweed liquid;
mixing in a high speed agitator at about 4000 to 5000 rpm; and
blending to make it into a gel; and
enriching with plant based bio-stimulants, growth hormones and preservatives.
4. The method of preparation of seaweed-based gel type organic manure from a marine seaweed, as claimed in claim 3, wherein, the seaweed is brown seaweed (sargassum wightii).
5. The method of preparation of seaweed-based gel type organic manure from a marine seaweed, as claimed claim 3, wherein the separated solids are processed to derive a B Grade Gel.
6. The method of preparation of seaweed-based gel type organic manure from a marine seaweed, as claimed in claim 3, wherein the plant-based stimulants include amino acids and fulvic acids. , Description:This invention enables to overcome the following problems:
a) Scarcity of novel technology to overcome the shortage of farmyard manure.
b) A need to find out a eco-friendly extraction technology to improve organic carbon content of the soil.
c) To avoid over dosage of chemical fertilizers in the soil.
d) Non-availability of man power for input application.
d) Excess of residual effects in the soil.
To overcome the above problems, this invention proposes the following:
a) The seaweed based gel product is 100% organic and it is an alternate to farmyard manure, green leaf and other green manures to improve the organic carbon content in the soil.
b) It will reduce the application of chemical fertilizers and cost.
c) It is easy to handle, to apply in the soil and also reduce the man power.
d) The seaweed based organic products recently classified as a plant bio-stimulant act as a slow release fertilizer.
e) It is also natural and eco-friendly. Further it is 100% water soluble fertilizer and has no residual effect.
The invention relates to manufacturing of organic plant nutrients or plant bio-stimulant in the form of gel type manure from a marine brown seaweed, Sargassum Weightii. For the formation of such a gel based organic manure, a brown seaweed has been used as a principle constituent and few more organics like humic acids, growth promoting substances, essential amino acids and bio enzymes are included in this formulation.
According to the method of the invention, around 400 to 600kg of seaweeds are taken and washed with fresh water to remove all epiphytes and sand particles. The cleaned seaweed is weighed and mixed with 1-2% Enzyme solution with a good dispersing agent in a 5-7KL reactor vessel. The pH of mixer is maintained between 5 to 6 adjusted with addition of either of acid or base chemicals. Further it is boiled for two hours at 50o C to 60o C. The boiled material is filtered through filter press to separate solid and liquid. Thereafter, the solid matter is lifted out of the tank by overhead pulleys for further “B” grade gel process and the remaining liquid solution is transferred via pump to a further processing tank where gel type organic manure is prepared which is named as seaweed liquid (SL) and humic acid in the ratio 5:1 is added to SL. After through mixing with help of high speed agitator in the rpm around 4000 to 5000, the composition is moved to a horizontal type blender to make value added gel type manure enriched with plant based bio-stimulants like amino acids, fulvic acids and plant growth hormones. Preservatives are further added.
In an embodiment, this invention relates to manufacturing of organic plant nutrients or plant bio-stimulant in the form of gel type manure from a marine brown seaweed, Sargassum Weightii. For the formation of such a gel based organic manure, a brown seaweed has been used as a principal constituent.
Cleaning and washing:
Approximately, for a batch around 400 to 600kg of dry seaweed (moisture 30-35%) is taken and washed with fresh water to remove all epiphytes and sand particles.
Addition of ingredients:
The cleaned seaweed is weighed and is mixed with 1-2% Enzyme solution followed by addition of a good dispersing agent in a 5-7 KL reactor vessel.
pH adjustment and temperature maintenance:
The pH of mixer is maintained between 5 to 6 adjusted with addition of either of acid or base buffer chemicals. Further it is boiled for 2 hours at 50o C to 60o C. Enzyme with dispersing agent, pH and temperature parameters are critical control point of the process.
Separation of solid and liquid:
The boiled material is filtered through filter press to separate solid and liquid. Thereafter, the solid matter is lifted out of the tank by overhead pulleys for further “B” grade gel process and the remaining liquid solution is transferred via pump to a further processing tank where gel type organic manure is prepared which is named as seaweed liquid (SL) and humic acid in the ratio 5:1 is added to SL.
Final product preparation:
After thorough mixing with help of high speed agitator in the rpm around 4000 to 5000, the composition is moved to a horizontal type blender to make value added gel type manure enriched with plant based bio-stimulants like amino acids, fulvic acids and plant growth hormones. Preservatives are further added.
