Self Cleaning Air Intake System
Abstract: A self-cleaning assembly for an air intake system having a housing with an inlet port and an outlet port and a tubular filter element disposed axially within the housing is disclosed. The self-cleaning assembly includes a rotating assembly or a sliding assembly that is placed inside the housing to receive compressed air stored in an auxiliary tank via a pressure control valve when the pressure reaches a preset value and when ignition is switched off to remove accumulated dust from the filter element at regular interval by blowing a high velocity air jet to the filter element. The housing is connected to a scavenging air duct at its bottom side that receives air from a parking brake exhaust to create a local suction using a venturi effect which in turn scavenges out the settled dust in the housing from the filter element.
