, Description:SET-IN PACKAGING SYSTEM FOR POUCHES AND SATCHES
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] Embodiments are generally related to field of flexible packaging systems. Embodiments are further related to flexible pouches and sachets with spouts and zippers for packaging products. Embodiments are also related to disposable and portable containers and packaging materials. Embodiments are particularly related to a novel set-in packaging system for pouches and sachets with improved built-in tamper evidence feature.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Various types of disposable, portable containers are known in the art for storing products, such as a liquid, granular material, powder or the like. Such conventional containers include, for example, a cup, a metal can, a plastic bottle, a glass bottle or a flexible pouch. Consumers prefer the convenience of flexible pouches and sachets over other conventional types of containers due to their shape, size, shelf life and storage adaptability. Manufacturers recognize the packaging benefits of a flexible pouch/sachet, since the pouch/sachet is relatively inexpensive and can be formed and filled on the same manufacturing line.
[0003] Flexible pouches/sachets are made from a flexible or pliable material, preferably an extrusion or a laminate composed of sheets of plastic or aluminium or the like. An outer layer of the material may include pre-printed information, such as a logo or the like, to provide the consumer with information regarding the contents of the pouch/sachet. The pouch/sachet can be formed and/or filled using conventionally known manufacturing techniques, such as a form-fill-seal machine with a single or multiple lane, or the like.
[0004] Such pouch/sachets typically include a spout or zipper having a spout for dispensing the product. The pouch/sachet also includes a provision cap/zip for enclosing the pouch and protecting the spout from contamination. The conventional pouch/sachets with spouts and zippers have been in the market for a long time. The spouts and zippers are typically welded onto the plastic films by means of heat sealing. However, the conventional spouted packs and the zipper packs are the ones where the spout and zipper are visible outside the pack and require a security feature [tamper evidence]. The exposed spout/zipper makes it amenable to attract dust, accidental breakage and chances of pilferage etc.
[0005] Based on the foregoing a need therefore exists for an improved packaging system for pouches and sachets. Also, a need exists for an improved set-in packaging system for pouches and sachets with improved built-in tamper evidence feature, as discussed in greater detail herein.
