OPERATION
CLOSE TO OPEN POSITION
At lock position (i.e. position at which the steering is locked), the shutter is opened by rotating the transmission means (3) in clockwise direction through an ignition key. As the transmission means (3) is turned in clockwise direction, it rotates the shutter in opposite sense through the meshing of gear teeth (2A) on shutter (2) and gear teeth (3B) on transmission means (3).
The first energising means (4) mounted between housing (1) and cavity (2B) of shutter (2) biases the shutter (2) towards the closing condition. The transmission means (3) through the meshing of gear teeth (2A) on shutter (2) and gear teeth (3B) on transmission means (3) is also biased towards closing condition.
While rotation, the extension arm (3A) of transmission means (3) pushes the protrusion part (5B) of push button (5) down. As the rotation is completed, i.e. the

shutter (2) is in open position allowing access to the keyhole (1A); the extension arm (3 A) crosses the protrusion part (5B) of push button (5). The second energising means (5C) positioned between housing (1) and cylindrical cavity (5D) in push button (5) pushes the push button (5) up again, thereby locking the extension arm (3A) and hence moving the transmission means (3) in open position. With the locking of transmission means (3) in open condition, the shutter (2) is also locked in open condition through the meshing of gears teeth (2A) on shutter (2) and gear teeth (3B) on transmission means (3).
OPEN TO CLOSE POSITION
At open position, the user manually pushes the top part (5 A) of push button (5) down. As the protrusion part (5B) of push button (5) moves down, it releases the extension arm (3A), thereby allowing the transmission means (3) to move freely. As the transmission means (3) is now free to move, the first energising means (4) on the shutter (2) brings both the shutter (2) and the transmission means (3) back to closed position.
