Single Phase Induction Motor Control

Abstract: A single phase induction motor control (1) comprising a micro controller (2) connected to a voltage sensor (3) at the input side thereof and a switch (4) at the output side thereof. The switch is connected to the main winding (5) of the motor. An auxiliary winding energizing circuit (6) comprising a start capacitor (7) and a run capacitor (8) in parallel configuration and a semiconductor start switch (9) is connected in series with the start capacitor. The output of the energizing circuit is connected to the auxiliary winding (10) of the motor and the switch. The control terminal (11) of the starter switch is connected to the output side of the micro controller. The voltage sensor and the switch are connected to an AC power supply (12). A current sensor (13) for sensing the current in the main and auxiliary winding of the motor is connected to the input side of the micro controller. A speed sensor (14) for sensing the rpm of the motor shaft is connected to the input side of the micro controller. A voltage frequency sensor (16) is connected to the input side of the micro controller and to the AC power supply. An operational status display circuit (15) is connected to the micro controller and a low voltage regulated DC supply (17) for driving the micro controller and the other circuits of the motor control.
