Abstract: This invention focuses on the implementation of an automatic public ration distribution system in a ration shop. Civil Supplies Corporation is the major public sector company that manages and distributes essential edible commodities to all enrolled below and above poverty level families using the traditional ration shop system. There is a chance of illegal usage of products in the conventional ration system such as the commodities may be robbed by making data entries in the book register without the knowledge of the ration cardholder. Due to this, a large amount of money given by the government gets wasted and does not reach the needy people. To overcome these problems, automation of the ration shops using arduino plays a key role in society. In the current invention designed the hardware for two commodities namely rice and dal. These two commodities are stored in reservoir tanks and are measured and supplied to the user as and when cardholder required. Cell phone number is the input given by the ration cardholder to access his/her ration availability details. It consists of an LCD screen where the consumer can select a commodity and also specify the maximum or lesser than the available quantity and based on his/her entries the commodities will be delivered. Servo motors aid in opening and closing the delivery channel of the commodity and load cell quantifying the quantity.
Claims:We claim that,
1. The hoppers (1) are a part where the commodities are stored, two hoppers are used to
deliver the rice and dal. The system will work 24X7 with the power supply.
2. The cylindrical funnel and AC servo motor (3) which is for the passing of the
commodities from (1) so that the flow of commodities can easily be collected.
● The servo motor aids valve opening and closing for the flow of the rice and dal.
● As per the required supply of the commodity by the identity of the ration card, it
works on that basis.
3. A set of display units and control panels (4) is attached in front of the body (2) so that the
user can easily enter the required information and get the notification on display.
● The complete (4) set is functioned by the arduino program and ICs.
● It has switches like On/Off and Starts/Stop this is used for the flow of the
commodity.
● The data is stored in the processing chip as per the type of ration cards given by
the Government authority.
● This part (4) is linked with all the working components which are present in this
device.
4. The load sensor (5) is to measure the weight of the commodity. Which is placed at the
bottom of the body (2).
● As per the members of the family, the ration will be provided by a certain weight
of the commodity from the Government authority.
● For the weighing of ration, the load sensor (5) is used, with this after receiving the
ration as per their ration card information the flow of commodity will stop.
● The load sensor (5) is linked to the servomotor (3), the display and control unit (4)
for the weight measurement and supply , Description:FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] This invention is related to the below poverty and above poverty level card holder's ration distribution system and aims at making a fully automatic and corrupt-free system.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[002] The public ration distribution system in India was started long ago
during the inter-war period in the 1960's. Since then the system has been working through shops where people come to the shop, give their credentials, and take the ration home at the lowest prices. This scheme was initially started to nourish the economically backward classes in India.
[003] But as the system grew and expanded to reach out to as many people as possible throughout India, people started to exploit the loopholes of the system.
People started stealing commodities by making fake entries without the knowledge of the ration cardholder. Since entries are made in a book/register and the offline documentation is not accurate the government loses a lot of money due to these methods.
[004] To overcome these flaws, automation is necessary. Prior work had been done on this problem and a radio frequency identification (RFID)-based ration
vending machine was designed. In the RFID-based vending machine most of the above-mentioned problems are solved but the problem with that invention is that the beneficiary has to always keep his RFID tag with him and cannot interact with the vending machine without it.
[005] Our invention aims at solving all the above-mentioned problems and also making the process easy and convenient for the beneficiary.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
[006] The current public distribution system is run in ration shops where at least two people are required to do all the work. But with our invention, the public distribution system will become fully automatic and online data documentation.1. With our invention, the beneficiary need not bring a Ration Card, Aadhar
Card, or give fingerprint to avail his ration and he/she will only come with the
cellphone.
2. Our invention saves a lot of time for the beneficiary as they need not wait in
long queues and wait to give all his credentials before getting his ration. This
system can work 24X7 and does not require any human laborers.
3. This invention will help the government to avoid any sort of corruption and
thus save a lot of money and ration will reach to needy one.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
[007] This invention is a better alternative to the existing ration shops. This
will help the government to keep track of the commodities provided by them and
avoid any misuse. The vending system is safe and secure and cannot be hacked.
APL/BPL cardholders need not worry about keeping any documents with them and
can avail themselves of the ration with just their cellphone.
[008] The machine consists of a hopper of approximately 500 kg capacity.
When the user enters the cellphone number through the numeric keypad present in the
front part of the vending machine the arduino connects to the PDS server and checks
for the user credentials and generates a one-time password (OTP) and sends it to the
registered consumer cellphone number. The user should enter the OTP and then the
LCD screen displays the commodities with the quantity added to the BPL/APL card
for the month. The user selects the commodity and enters the required quantity
among the availability. The arduino then opens the servo motor of the commodity and
the weight sensor beneath the tray weighs the commodity as soon as the user-specific
weight is reached the arduino turns off the servo motor.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[009] The concept was started in view that the public ration distribution
system was not systematic and a lot of corruption was taking place in the system. The
conventional ration shops waste a lot of people’s time since the registration is to be
made for each person and then deliver their ration.[010] The current invention automates the whole ration distribution system
and excludes any third-person interference during receiving the ration. All the ration
card data will be stored digitally. The cellphone number linked to the ration card is
the input to the vending machine. Therefore people need not bring any documents
and can avail the ration by using just their phone. The beneficiaries have to just enter
their phone number to get their ration. This automatic vending machine will be
available 24x7 and people can get their ration anytime and thus saving their time.
[011] Automation eliminates all the corruption taking place in ration shops.
The government not only saves a lot of money but also keeps a record of all the
recent activities with the vending machine.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[012] The invention can be clearly understood with the description given
below and the accompanying sketches given by way of illustration only, and thus are
not limited of the present invention, wherein:
[013] Fig.1 shows the isometric view of the ration vending machine with all
the main parts numbered and specified. Fig. 2 shows different orthographic views of
the invention i.e front view, top view, left view, and right view. Fig. 3 shows the 3D
view of the invention. Fig. 4 shows the orthographic views with dimensions of
different parts of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[014] The body (2) of the vending machine is made of sheet metal. The
arduino is the key part of the machine and controls all the actions taking place in the
machine. The commodities are stored in a hopper (1) in vast quantities. The designed
and developed machine fit for two commodities such as rice and dal.
[015] The input (4) to the vending machine is the quick response code and if
the person doesn't own a smartphone can enter a phone number to access his available
ration. There is a numeric pad for the user to enter the registered cellphone number
(4). When the quick response code is scanned/registered cellphone number entered
the arduino which is connected to the internet checks for the user and displays thequantity that is available to the user to withdraw through the LCD (4). The user
selects the commodity and the quantity that he wants to withdraw.
[016] As soon as the user enters all the specifications the arduino turns on the
servo motor (3) and the commodity falls on the tray (3). The load cell (5) which is
mounted under the tray weighs the amount that is falling on the tray which is placed
on the base (6) of the vending machine. As soon as the weight is equal to the amount
entered by the user the arduino turns off the servo motor. The person can transfer the
commodity to a bag.
