Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The field of invention relates to sleeve bearing housing assembly and
particularly relates to flexible hose adaptor used in sleeve bearing housing
assembly. The sleeve bearing housing assembly consists of a flexible hose
adaptor at the interface with the water hose inlet.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Sleeve bearing housings require water cooling in order to regulate the
temperature. The supply and circulation of cooling water is provided by
external source through a piping assembly. The metallic end of the hose
requires to be welded while the ends of the inlet pipe of bearing housing
comprises threading. In current practice (Fig.1), the sleeve bearings are
equipped only with an inlet pipe without any element compatible with the
water hose that connects with it.
The setup in the current practice is inadequate and results in large
amounts of leakage. Such a connection is also cumbersome and of low
quality, vulnerable to shorter lifespan and requiring constant inspection.
The time required to establish connection is more and the process is non-
standard.
The sleeve bearing housing assembly with flexible hose adaptor over
comes the above problems.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
Therefore, it is an object of the invention to propose a sleeve bearing
housing assembly with a provision to connect two components of
different fastening styles.
Another object of the invention is to propose a method to avoid any
leakage due to fastening mismatch.
Yet another object of the invention is to propose a method to eliminate
temporary setup to fasten the two ends.
A further object of the invention is to introduce a standardized method for
fastening the sleeve bearing and the flexible hose components.
A still further object of invention is to provide an easy, quick and
complete solution for leakage issues.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
The adaptor consists of plate discs with bolt holes. A leak-proof gasket is
provided at the interface. A tube of appropriate diameter and thickness is
welded at the centre of one of the discs.
A through-hole is made at the centre of the discs and for passage of
cooling water.
The tube has threading on its outer diameter and it is fastened to the
bearing inlet. The lower disc is welded to the metallic end of the hose. A
number of variants cater to different sizes of the end components.

Fig.2 – depicts the sleeve bearing housing assembly with the adaptor
fastened.
Fig.3 – depicts a 2D drawing of the adaptor.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF
THE INVENTION:-
Fig.1 shows the sleeve bearing assembly having only an INLET PIPE (01)
without any element compatible with the FLEXIBLE HOSE (02) that
connects with it.
Fig 2 shows the sleeve bearing assembly with the INLET PIPE (01)
threaded to the FLEXIBLE HOSE (02) and ADAPTOR ASSEMBLY which in
turn is threaded to the FLEXIBLE HOSE (02).
Fig.3 shows the ADAPTOR ASSEMBLY (03) as a hole. FLEXIBLE HOSE
INLET (02) is threaded with item (03).
The adaptor contains a PLATE DISC BOTTOM (04) with a central bore to
allow water to pass from the hose to the bearing housing. It has a
stepped diameter to allow metallic contact with PLATE DISC TOP (05).
The diameter of the discs depends on the thread size on item (01).

A GASKET (06) is provided at the step to arrest any leakage at the
interface. A TUBE (07) is welded with a bore of same diameter suitably to
channelize the flow into the bearing housing inlet. The free end of item
(07) is threaded for fastening with the bearing inlet.
An equispaced circular pattern of holes is provided on item (04) and item
(05) for bolting. An appropriate pitch circle diameter is maintained based
on the diameter of the discs. A bolting arrangement comprising a
HEXAGONAL BOLT (08) and HEXAGONAL NUT (09) is provided at the
holes with a SPRING WASHER (10).

We Claim
1. Sleeve bearing housing assembly with flexible hose adaptor having an inlet
pipe (01) threaded to the water hose (02) which in turn threaded to adaptor
assembly (03);
the said adaptor assembly (03) connecting with the flexible hose inlet (02);
the adaptor assembly (03) comprising a plate disc bottom (04) with a central
bore to allow water to pass from the hose to the bearing housing and with a
stepped diameter to allow metallic contact with plate disc top (05);
the diameter of the disc depending on the threaded size of inlet pipe (01);
a gasket (06) provided at the step to arrest any leakage at the interface;
a tube (07) welded with a bore of same diameter with flexible hose inlet (02)
suitably to channelize the flow into the bearing housing inlet, wherein the free
end of tube (07) threaded for fastening with the bearing inlet;
an equispaced pattern of holes provided on plate disc bottom (4) and plate disc
top (5) for bolting by bolts (8) and nuts (9) with spring washer (10) wherein
the adaptor assembly (03) and flexible hose inlet (02) are fastened by
threading.
2. The sleeve bearing housing with flexible adaptor as claimed in claim 1 is made
leak-proof.
