Abstract: Sleeve cutting apparatus is an assembly of bracket, handle, stopper, blade, spring, support & axle screw which in combination act as a sleeve cutting machine for different diameter of sleeves. Further, the said apparatus is able to adjust the length of sleeve according to use.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to apparatus for sleeve cutting as per required test
piece (e.g. wire, cable etc) for isolation of bunch of wire from each other at soldering
end.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Putting of sleeve on the wire, cable, loom etc is one of the foremost operations of
harness which provide isolation from each other at soldering points. The available
sleeve cutter is costly & bulky in size. Most of the sleeve cutter is automatic or semiautomatic
and not handy to keep on the assembly table. A light weight and easily
operable sleeve cutter is required.
SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
The existing process of sleeve cutting is manually by blade or by hand cutter. The
said process cause unevenness in sleeve size & result as non-uniformity of sleeve at
soldering point of loom. With new designed sleeve cutting apparatus, the operator is
able to cut sleeve of different diameters of sleeves and cutting length of sleeves as
per assembly requirement. The said apparatus is of low cost & handy in use.
New adopted Methodology for sleeve cutting by designed sleeve cutting apparatus is
useful in accordance of following aspectAnnexure‐

In accordance with one aspect of present invention, the said machine
provides uniform cutting length of sleeves.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention, the sleeve cutting
machine can be use for different diameter of sleeves.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention, it is smaller in size &
weight.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, it is safe to
operate ie its cutting blade is placed in such a way that during sleeve cutting
operation it does not come in contact with operator hand.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
manual control during sleeve cutting operation, so operator can adjust the applied
force according to width of sleeves.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the said
apparatus provide smooth cutting edge of sleeves.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the said
apparatus has flexibility to change its cutting blade.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the said design is
common for four different diameters of sleeves but there is facility to enhance its
capacity for other diameter of sleeve cutting also.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the said invention
has upper & lower stopper which restrict its motion in elevation during sleeve cutting
that makes it safer to operate.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the spring
arrangement at one end point of handle make it controlled sleeve cutting operation.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

and descriptive in the description when considered together with figures presented.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring the figure 1, 2 & 3, the present invention is Sleeve cutting apparatus which
is used for cutting of different diameter type sleeves with uniform length and cutting
edge. The said apparatus has facility to adjust the cutting length of sleeve according
to assembly use. The sleeve cutting apparatus is assembly for 10 different items,
called as pos.1- bracket, pos 2- handle, pos 3- stopper, pos 4- support, pos 5- blade,
pos 6- axle screw, pos 7- spring, pos 8- - lower stopper, pos9 upper stopper &
pos10- locking screw.
The bracket 1 is L-shape frame to hold all assembly item of sleeve cutter. Its
weight & design dimension is kept as such that it is able to handle weight of other
assembly and does not fall by operator’s hand pressure during sleeve cutting
operation. The vertical frame of bracket 1 has holes of different diameter for insertion
of sleeve for cutting. And in combination with the holes in vertical frame of bracket 1,
one harden support 4 is assembled in frame. This assembly provide cutting of
sleeves with smooth edge.
The handle 2 has main cutting tool which carry harden cutting blade 5, the
blade is assembled on the handle with the help of screw. The assembly of cutting
blade with the help of screw, provide flexibility to change cutting blade if required in
this apparatus.

In assembly of sleeve cutting apparatus, spring 7 is assembled with axle
screw 6 which is tighten at one end of handle 2 with vertical frame of bracket 1. To
limit the cutting motion of handle at both ends, an arrangement for upper stopper 8 &
lower stopper 9 is used. The lower stopper 9 is lock by locking screw 10, this
arrangement provide flexibility for placement of lower stopper 9 at shifted position in
vertical direction according to use. The length adjustment facility in sleeve cutting
apparatus is done by stopper 3, which is simple rod with one circular plate at one
end.
For sleeve cutting operation by sleeve cutting apparatus, operator has to
insert sleeve in hole of vertical frame of bracket 1 according to diameter, the cutting
length is decided by position of stopper 3 circular plate which is adjusted as per
requirement and finally operator drive the cutter on sleeve by handle 2 which results
in uniform sleeve cutting.

1. The sleeve cutting apparatus, comprising
- Bracket to hold the assembly,
- Handle to drive the apparatus,
- Support to maintain the length of sleeves,
- Cutting element,
- Spring to smooth operation of apparatus,
- Stopper to limit motion &
- axle screw
assembled into a suitable arrangement.
2. The apparatus as per claim 1, capable to cut uniform edge & length of sleeve for different diameter on same arrangement.
3. The apparatus as per claim 1, wherein bracket hold the assembly item of said apparatus.
4. The apparatus as per claim 1 & 2, further comprising different diameter hole for the different type of cutting sleeves along with harden support structure.
5. The sleeve cutting apparatus of claim1 wherein the handle which is fixed with bracket at one end by axle screw & spring arrangement for control motion of cutter.
6. The sleeve cutting apparatus of claim 4 further comprises hardening cutter assembly on the handle which makes it flexible to change cutter, if required.
7. The sleeve cutting apparatus of claim1 wherein the stopper which make it compatible to cut different length of sleeves.
8. The sleeve cutting apparatus of claim1 wherein the upper & lower stopper which limit its motion of cutter handle & safe for operator. ,TagSPECI:As per Annexure-II
