, Description:TECHNICAL FIELD

[001] The present subject matter described herein, in general, relates to with switch boards, and more particularly auxiliary bus assembly.

BACKGROUND

[002] There are two types of the switchboards used to distribute the generated power; Power Control Centre (PCC) and Motor Control Centre (MCC). Power Control Centre distributes the power to different Motor Control Centre (MCC) and Motor Control Centre (MCC) distributes that power intelligently to different motor loads, lamp loads using feeders/modules. For any type of panel, the skeleton of shell is essential part which carries the whole switchboard load for whole of its service.

[003] Switchboards consist of multiple panels having numbers of feeders mounted in it and each feeder has various functional requirements like feeding supply to load through SCPD (Short Circuit Protection Device) as well as indicating users for feeder status like ON, OFF & Trip condition. These feeders may also contain switching device like contactor which again gets actuated after energizing its coil through auxiliary supply. Multiple feeder means multiple auxiliary supply and hence complex connection of tapping from main power busbar.

[004] In the existing technology, the structure of panel is fixing type and has limitation of termination for multiple feeders. In the existing structure, whole aux. bus assembly consist of
1. Moulded component for fixing aux. terminals
2. Aux. terminal with screw type fixing with limitation of numbers wires connection (max. 5)
3. Aux bus
To assemble auxiliary bus, first moulded components are fixed to base plate of the panel. Aux. buses are get fixed in the aux. terminals and later it is mounted in the moulded component. Since aux bus assembly is done at the top of the panel, it is time consuming process.

[005] Thus, there is a need to develop a sliding type self-retainer auxiliary bus assembly to overcome the problems in the existing technology with increased termination capacity. This invention relates to an auxiliary bus which run through all panels and gets supply through a common tap-off. All feeders then can be connected to it. This invention is sliding type bus terminal which facilitates multiple connection and self-retaining busbar assembly.

The terms “plurality” or “a plurality” may be used throughout the specification to describe two or more components, devices, elements, units, parameters, or the like. Unless explicitly stated, the method embodiments described herein are not constrained to a particular order or sequence. Additionally, some of the described method embodiments or elements thereof can occur or be performed simultaneously, at the same point in time, or concurrently.

[0027] The present invention discloses the sliding type self-retainer auxiliary bus assembly for retaining auxiliary busbar and facilitating multiple feeder connection. The whole assembly consists of terminal, molded support and bus. The structure of the terminal is such that it doesn’t require any fixing for locating and busbar can also be just located by sliding it in the terminal. So it reduces the overall assembly time. Complete auxiliary bus assembly is consisting of sliding terminals which get slide in molded housing and hold busbar within it without having any fixing screw.

[0028] Figure 1 illustrates the assembly view (1) of the present invention used in panel as auxiliary bus system. Molded housing or support (3) has accommodated auxiliary terminal (2) in it. Auxiliary terminal has total 10 numbers of termination points (4,9) wherein five terminal points on each side, where auxiliary cable terminals will be connected. These aux. bus terminal will be fed from busbar (1).

[0029] Figure 2 illustrates top view of molded housing (3) and auxiliary terminal (2). To fix aux. terminals (2) in the molded housing (3), position it either left or right of the molded support and slide it in housing alley (6).

[0030] Figure 3 illustrates detailed molded housing (3) in which auxiliary terminal gets slide into housing alley (6).

[0031] Figures 4a and 4b illustrate detailed view of whole assembly with busbar (1) disconnected, aux. terminals (2) mounted in the housing alley (6) of molded housing (3). Molded housing gets fixed in steel plate mounted in the panel in the vertical position through fixing plug (7). After fixing or sliding aux. terminals (2) in the molded support (3), busbar (1) can be fixed or inserted in the aux. terminal (2).

[0032] Figure 5 illustrates bus assembly in the auxiliary terminal. When bus (1) is not inserted in the aux. terminal, there will be gap G1 and terminal (2) will be loose and free to move circularly. This gap is accommodated by terminal (2) itself when busbar is inserted in it. This restrict the movement of terminal and retain the bus also.

[0033] Figure 6 illustrates detailed design of aux. terminal (2). Circular strip (10) is used to place in the housing support and this circular also allow user to use cylinder copper bus instead of rectangular bus (1). Terminal (2) has 5 termination points (4,9) on each side and therefore it facilitates user to connect 10 numbers of feeder’s control supply. Terminal (2) has two wings (8) (one on left and another on right) which clutch the busbar (1) and also make contact with it. This wings also helps to retain the position of terminal (2) in the molded housing (3). When bus is not inserted in the terminal, these wings are free and gets expanded according to bus (1) width & rest on the molded housing support.

[0034] ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
• To facilitate feeders with a common aux. bus.
• To provide more termination option.
• Ease of assembly.
• Eliminates screw fixing.
• Allows user to connect 10 nos. of control or auxiliary supply of feeder.

[0035] The invention has been described in a preferred form only and many variations may be made in the invention which will still be comprised within its spirit. The invention is not limited to the details cited above. The auxiliary bus assembly as described above does not limit the scope of the present invention. The structure thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all the details may furthermore be replaced with elements having technical equivalence. In practice the materials and dimensions may be any according to the requirements, which will still be comprised within its true spirit.

[0036] Finally, the language used in the specification has been principally selected for readability and instructional purposes, and it may not have been selected to delineate or circumscribe the inventive subject matter. It is therefore intended that the scope of the invention be limited not by this detailed description, but rather by any claims that issue on an application based here on. Accordingly, the disclosure of the embodiments of the invention is intended to be illustrative, but not limiting, of the scope of the invention, which is set forth in the following claims.

[0037] With respect to the use of substantially any plural and/or singular terms herein, those having skill in the art can translate from the plural to the singular and/or from the singular to the plural as is appropriate to the context and/or application. The various singular/plural permutations may be expressly set forth herein for sake of clarity.
