Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION:
[001] The present subject matter described herein, relates to dash silencer for an automobile and more particularly, relates to a dash silencer that facilitates harness assembly and prevents engine noise inside cabin of vehicle.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART:
[002] In passenger cars / vehicles, a dash panel as a sound-absorbing/blocking member is mounted at the boundary between an engine room and an indoor of a vehicle and absorbs and blocks engine noise transmitted to the indoor is mounted on the dash panel. It is known to have been provided cutouts or openings in dash silencer for assembly of peripheral parts thereto. Now, reference may be made to Fig. 1 illustrating an elliptical hole or opening (O) in dash silencer for door harness assembly. So that door wiring harness with coupler can be assembled with a corresponding part through the opening. However, the dash silencer is located in proximity to the wheel house. This leads to leakage of engine noise/tire noise into the cabin thereby increasing NVH characteristics of the cabin. This causes discomfort to the passengers.
[003] United States Patent publication US8701825B2 provides that a dash silencer is installed on the passenger-compartment-side surface of the dash panel of an automobile for mitigating transmission of noise generated in the engine compartment to the passenger compartment, wherein the mounting operation is facilitated by improving the mounting structure for the dash silencer. A stud pin is provided to the passenger-compartment-side surface of the dash panel, a chevron-shaped slit is formed in the mat-shaped dash silencer, and the stud pin is inserted through the slit, whereby the dash silencer is mounted on the passenger-compartment-side surface of the dash panel, wherein, when the chevron-shaped slit is formed in the dash silencer, a lower portion separated by the slit is caused to project farther than the upper portion toward the passenger compartment, and the lower portion is caused to inflect into the passenger compartment so as to form a stepped shape.
[004] The US prior art provides a conventional design wherein a slit is provided on a dash silencer. However, the prior art does not provide the solution proposed in the present disclosure.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[005] An object of the invention is to propose slit structured dash silencer for automobile which overcomes drawbacks of the prior art(s).
[006] Another object of the invention is to propose slit structured dash silencer for automobile which is simple in design.
[007] Still another object of the invention is to propose slit structured dash silencer for automobile which facilitates assembly of wiring harness and prevents leakage of noise into the cabin.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[008] The present invention relates to a slit structured dash silencer for an automobile. The slit structured dash silencer including a plurality of slits; and a plurality of flaps defined through the plurality of slits, wherein the plurality of flaps are configured to move away from the dash silencer under action of a force, and restore back to the dash silencer on removal of the force.
[009] In order to further understand the characteristics and technical contents of the present subject matter, a description relating thereto will be made with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the drawings are illustrative only but not used to limit scope of the present subject matter.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] It is to be noted, however, that the appended drawings illustrate only typical embodiments of the present subject matter and are therefore not to be considered for limiting of its scope, for the invention may admit to other equally effective embodiments. The detailed description is described with reference to the accompanying figures. In the figures, the left-most digit(s) of a reference number identifies the figure in which the reference number first appears. The same numbers are used throughout the figures to reference like features and components. Some embodiments of system or methods in accordance with embodiments of the present subject matter are now described, by way of example, and with reference to the accompanying figures, in which:
[0011] Fig. 1 illustrates an elliptical hole or opening (O) in dash silencer for door harness assembly as known in the art;
[0012] Fig. 2 illustrates a slit structured dash silencer for an automobile in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure; and
[0013] Fig. 3 illustrates practical application of the dash silencer in the automobile in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0014] The figures depict embodiments of the present subject matter for the purposes of illustration only. A person skilled in the art will easily recognize from the following description that alternative embodiments of the structures and methods illustrated herein may be employed without departing from the principles of the disclosure described herein.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS:
[0015] The present disclosure presents embodiments for a slit structured dash silencer for an automobile. The slit structured dash silencer including a plurality of slits; and a plurality of flaps defined through the plurality of slits, wherein the plurality of flaps are configured to move away from the dash silencer under action of a force, and restore back to the dash silencer on removal of the force.
[0016] It should be noted that the description and figures merely illustrate the principles of the present subject matter. It should be appreciated by those skilled in the art that conception and specific embodiment disclosed may be readily utilized as a basis for modifying or designing other structures for carrying out the same purposes of the present subject matter. It should also be appreciated by those skilled in the art that by devising various arrangements that, although not explicitly described or shown herein, embody the principles of the present subject matter and are included within its spirit and scope. Furthermore, all examples recited herein are principally intended expressly to be for pedagogical purposes to aid the reader in understanding the principles of the present subject matter and the concepts contributed by the inventor(s) to furthering the art, and are to be construed as being without limitation to such specifically recited examples and conditions. The novel features which are believed to be characteristic of the present subject matter, both as to its organization and method of operation, together with further objects and advantages will be better understood from the following description when considered in connection with the accompanying figures.
[0017] These and other advantages of the present subject matter would be described in greater detail with reference to the following figures. It should be noted that the description merely illustrates the principles of the present subject matter. It will thus be appreciated that those skilled in the art will be able to devise various arrangements that, although not explicitly described herein, embody the principles of the present subject matter and are included within its scope.
[0018] Fig. 2 illustrates a slit structured dash silencer 100 for an automobile (not shown) in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown, the dash silencer 100 includes a plurality of slits 102. The plurality of slits 102 provides a plurality of flaps 104 to the dash silencer 100. In an embodiment, longitudinal direction of the flaps 104 is along a Z axis of the automobile. In an example, the plurality of flaps 104 are configured to move away from the dash silencer 100 under action of a force, and restore back to the dash silencer 100 on removal of the force. The slit structured dash silencer 100 is substantially equivalent to a one-way valve because of the slits 102 and the flaps 104.
[0019] Fig. 3 illustrates practical application of the dash silencer 100 in the automobile. Fig. 3 provides a dash side outer panel 1, door harness connector 2, door protector 3, dash side inner panel 4, the dash silencer 100, JB harness 7. The provision of the flaps 104 with the dash silencer 100 gives alignment to the door harness connector 2 during harness insertion, such that the harness reaches the required location in the automobile without interfering with adjacent harnesses. As shown, while insertion the harness through the door harness connector 2 hits the flaps 104 of the dash silencer 100 at point 6 following the intended path P. As the harness hits the flaps 104, a force is exerted on the flaps 104 thereby moving the flaps 104 upward against the force. Further, as the force is removed or gradually removed, the flaps 104 move downwards under gravity towards the dash silencer 100. Hence, the flaps 104 and the slits 102 provides guiding of the harness due to upward movement of the flaps 104, and the flaps 104 and the slits 102 provides protection against noise due to downward movement of the flaps 104 towards the dash silencer 100.
[0020] Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter. Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system/component of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the scope of the present subject matter.
