Smart Ceiling Fan Dust Cleaner

Abstract: A ceiling fan is considered to be the most common appliances used in industries, schools, colleges, hospitals, etc. The number of ceiling fan count used in these applications is quite large. Dirty fan blades don’t move air as efficiently. Also, a ceiling fan that's covered with dust or pollen might also fling the offending particles around the room as it's whirring away. That’s why it’s important to keep the fan clean, especially if you use it year-round. All these ceiling fans need to be cleaned at regular intervals or at least once each cooling season. The current system involves the hand operated stick with a brush to clean off the dust spread over the fan. So we tried to eliminate this simpler human effort in an effective manner. The proposed idea is something new and we are trying this to be exclusively useful. The main objective of the project is to reduce the human effort and sluggishness of human when the operation is in large scale and to avoid the risk in case of any accidents. The proposed system consists of two brushes attached to the long height adjustable stick. The two brushes are allowed to rotate in opposite direction when the ceiling fan blade is inserted in the gap between the brushes. Also, water can be sprayed to the fan leaf through the sprayer and DC pump motor. All the components such as sensor, pump motor, dc motor attached to the brushes are controlled by the controller. Moreover, as this project proves to be a cost effective one, it can be used in households as well.

, Description:The ceiling fan is the most common thing used in home, lodges, cottages, schools, colleges, industries etc. The ceiling fan must be maintained properly in all places. Keeping your ceiling fan clean and dust free is important. Not only does this ensure a long life for your fan, but it also makes the air in your home cleaner and safer for your family. Dust is one of the main culprits of a wobbly ceiling fan. The ceiling fan cleaning is the most tedious process. In this invention, the proposed system can provide a way to clean the ceiling fan easily and quickly and it is also time consumption.
The block diagram for Smart ceiling fan duster is shown in figure 1. The main objective of the system is to control the rotation of dc motor in the ceiling fan duster (7, 8) and the pump dc motor (3). A DC pump motor is used to supply water from the container or storage tank to the water sprayer (11) with the help of pump and water flow tube (4). Also, the dc motor attached with the brushes is allowed to rotate in opposite directions by the controller box. The controller box is made up of the power supply unit that supplies power to the entire system and the storage tank that stores water. The dc motors and the brushes are fixed with the height adjustable stick (1) though the supporting rod (6). As the brushes are fixed with dc motors on one end, they are fixed with the supporting rod on the other end by means of bearings (10). The gap between the brush should be less than 0.6mm as the fan leaf’s are very thin and the brushes should touch the ceiling fan.
The PIR sensor (9) attached between the brushes (12, 13) of the cleaning system is used to sense the presence of ceiling fan leaf between the gap. If the fan leaf is inserted, automatically the controller box starts the DC Motors (7,8) which in turn rotates the brush attached to it in opposite directions. On the bottom end of the cleaning system, a dust collector (5) is attached which prevents the falling of dust into the floor or on the people who are holding the ceiling fan duster. The controller box (2) is also consist of storage tank and the water from the tank is fed to the sprayer that sprinkles water on the fan leaf through the dc pump motor and the pump. In this mechanism, the smart ceiling fan duster cleans the ceiling fan leaf by moving the brushes back and forth such that the entire leaf is cleaned by the brushes. If necessary, the water can be sprayed over the leaf occasionally. Finally, people can clean the ceiling fan without climbing the ladder and with less effort.
