Smart Garbage Collector

Abstract: In 2001 India generated 46 million ton of waste and by 2048 this number is predicted to reach an estimate of 125 million ton, making India the largest waste contributor of the world. We can see that the difficulties occurred during unloading of the garbage can into the truck. It sometimes leads to fatal injuries to the corporation workers and public too. The overhead dumping is a risky process which is carried out in day to day life. Our aim is to provide a safety a method of segregating the waste according to dry and wet. We use Capacitive Touch Sensor and Humidity Sensor in order to sense the type of waste and Servo Motors with flippers to segregate them. Using three link mechanism the bin is lifted for additional support. Our project also ensures that the unloading of the waste collected can be in safely and without any risky manner. We segregate the wastes into dry and wet by implying Internet of Things Technologies.

Specification

Description:The collection of waste from sources using a communal common bin system is one of the current waste management practices' issues in India. Following that, it is moved to a series of low-lying landfills where Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is processed in an intermediate manner. The habit of open dumping is causing pollution and other health risks. This affects both surface and groundwater; in fact, the groundwater is in a critical state. India is expected to become the world's greatest contributor of waste, with 46 million tons produced in 2001 and an estimated 125 million tons by 2048.
OBJECTIVES OF INVENTION
• Loading and unloading will be made easy which can reduce the human intervention
• Wastes can be made separate into the Dry and Wet and Re-cycle able which can make the handling of wastes easier
• The separated dry wastes can be disposed as per the government norms
• Wet wastes such as domestic wastes can be dump into the grave which can also be used as fertilizers
• Recycle wastes can be segregated separately which can be used for the respective fields
• Physical safety and health of the workers can be improved

SUMMARY OF INVENTIONS
A garbage bin provided with grill plate to collect wastes by moving the bin in the Smart parks and beaches. A conveyor belts are provided to transfer wastes from lower level to above the bin. Capacitive touch sensor, soil moisture sensor, Arduino board, Servo motors and flipper are used to scan and segregate wastes into dry and wet. A Three link mechanism is provided to lift the bin. A hydraulic system is provided to push the wastes.

Detailed Description of the Invention
Garbage Bin: A hallow rectangular cube cavity where the wastes are being stored.
Grill Plate: It is a rectangular plate placed tangential with the bottom of the bin having periodic opening so that the dust, dirt and mud can be fallen off. It is used to collect the wastes from ground level.
Motor And Conveyor Belt: An AC Induction Motor with pulley and conveyor belt used to transfer from the place where wastes are being collected. Then it is transferred to the above the bin and sideways on the bin.
Motor – AC Induction Motor
1 W (1/750 HP) up to 400 W (1/2 HP)
Single-Phase 110/115 VAC or Single-Phase 220-230 VAC
Soil Moisture sensor: By utilizing another characteristic of the material, such as electrical resistance, dielectric constant, or interaction with neutrons, as a stand-in for the moisture content, soil moisture sensors determine the volumetric water content indirectly. Both dry and wet wastes are detected in this wat.
Capacitive Touch Sensor: There are two main types of capacitive touch sensors: the self-capacitance configuration and the mutual-capacitance configuration. For touch-sensitive screens, the former is recommended, where the sensing capacitor is made up of two terminals that serve as transmitting and receiving electrodes. The latter is a simple method that works well for a touch-sensitive button, slider, or wheel since it connects one terminal of the detecting capacitor to ground. The configuration of self-capacitance is presented in this article.
Servo Motor and Flippers: A servomotor (or servo motor) is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration. It receives signal from arduino board and pushes the wastes into respective bins by using a flipper attached to it.
Arduino UNO Board : The Arduino Uno is an open-source microcontroller board that was created by Arduino.cc and first made available in 2010. It is based on the Microchip ATmega328P microprocessor. Sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins on the board allow it to be interfaced with other expansion boards (shields) and other circuits. It commands the servo motors after receiving a signal from the sensors.
Three Link Mechanism: It is linked with the garbage bin and base plate. It is provided with a ballscrew mechanism. The ballscrew allows the link to contract ang engage These movements allows the bin to lift at the angle required.
Hydraulic System: It is provided separately inside the bins. It pushes the wastes independently.
, Claims:1. A Smart Garbage Collector comprising a garbage bin with a grill plate for efficient collection of waste, equipped with an AC Induction Motor and conveyor belt system to transfer waste from ground level to the bin, facilitating easy loading and unloading.

2. The Smart Garbage Collector of claim 1 further comprising a capacitive touch sensor and soil moisture sensor integrated into the system, in combination with an Arduino UNO board, to accurately detect and segregate dry and wet waste, ensuring effective waste management.

3. A garbage collection system as claimed in claim 2, wherein the servo motors and flippers are employed for precise control of waste segregation, allowing the system to autonomously push and dispose of waste into designated bins based on its type.

4. The Smart Garbage Collector of claim 2, further incorporating a three-link mechanism connected to the garbage bin and base plate, featuring a ballscrew mechanism that enables controlled lifting of the bin to facilitate the waste segregation process.

5. An innovative waste disposal system as claimed in claim 1, comprising a hydraulic system integrated into the bins to independently push waste, enhancing the efficiency of unloading and reducing the risk of injuries to workers during the waste disposal process.

6. The Smart Garbage Collector of claim 1, designed to improve worker safety and health by minimizing human intervention, ensuring proper handling of dry and wet waste in accordance with government regulations, and promoting environmentally friendly practices through effective recycling and disposal methods.
