Abstract: SMART HANDHELD HEALTH MONITORING DEVICE ABSTRACT A smart handheld health monitoring device comprising, a plurality of electrodes (101 through 107) in that the electrodes 101 and 102 are mounted on other lateral side of the device, the electrodes 103 and 104 are mounted on other lateral side of the device, the electrode 105 on back side and the electrodes 106 and 107 side by side on lower front surface of the device, a display unit 109 to display various data and text for a user to perform desired health monitoring using the device, an USB port 112 to charge the device and enable external interface, a glucometer 114 to determine blood glucose levels, and a stud button configured to connect an extendable ECG electrode, wherein the device captures both systolic and diastolic blood pressure without cumbersome cuff inflation along with SpO2 representing dissolved oxygen in the blood and heart pulse rate by capturing ECG signal through the electrodes.

CLAIMS
I/We Claim,
1. A smart handheld health monitoring device comprising:
a plurality of electrodes (101 through 107) in that the electrodes 101 and 102 are mounted on other lateral side of the device, the electrodes 103 and 104 are mounted on other lateral side of the device, the electrode 105 on back side and the electrodes 106 and 107 side by side on lower front surface of the device;
a display unit 109 to display various data and text for a user to perform desired health monitoring using the device;
an USB port 112 to charge the device and enable external interface;
a glucometer 114 to determine blood glucose levels; and
a stud button configured to connect an extendable ECG electrode, wherein the device captures both systolic and diastolic blood pressure without cumbersome cuff inflation along with SpO2 representing dissolved oxygen in the blood and heart pulse rate by capturing ECG signal through the electrodes.

The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the display unit comprises a TFT display to show various health parameters including blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, ECG, blood glucose, an insertion slot for glucose test strip, power on and device reset switch and a capacitor sense navigator for selection of the test parameter from a menu.

The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the ECG is measured by placing (pressed against) four fingers two from each hand on the electrodes 101, 102, 103 and 104 and activating a simple ECG test from the display unit that enables selection of the tests through suitable user interface graphics/text.

The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 3, wherein an extended ECG is measured by making use of electrodes 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and extendable ECG electrode 118 coupled to the stud button116 in that the four fingers are placed over four electrodes 101-104, the device is placed over knee such that electrode 105 touches the knee (left leg part) and the flexible ECG probe (patch) is placed over the chest at v2 position.
5. The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 4, wherein the device comprises a battery which is rechargeable using regular battery adapter with micro USB connector using AC mains 230V 50Hz.
6. The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 5, wherein the electrode 105 with thermistor is used for determining body temperature.
7. The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the blood glucose is measured by placing a drop of blood on the test strip inserted into the glucometer 114 that is implemented as a micro USB port.
8. The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the PPG signal is measured by placing two fingers on the electrodes 106 and 107 in that a PPG sensor 222 placed on outer surface of the device helps in determining PPG signal which is displayed on the display unit.
9. The smart handheld health monitoring device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the capacitance sensor PCB with touch keys are used to navigate and select a particular test from the test menu displayed on the display unit.
10. A method, system and apparatus providing one or more features as described in the paragraphs of this specification.

FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The embodiment of the present disclosure mainly relates to the bio medical electronic equipment and particularly relates to the smart hand-held health monitoring device used to capture body vitals - blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, heart rate, ECG and SpO2 all in one. The novel product design of the device ensures ease of use with safety and comfort.
RELATED ART
[0002] Health of a person is assessed by persons body vitals, primarily his/her blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, heart rate, ECG and SpO2. Body vitals are typically captured in diagnostic centers or medical clinics or of late with number of medical devices which are self-monitoring and used at home. However, there is a need for signal device which can monitor all of the above-mentioned body vitals which are simple and easy to use and comfortably handled.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EXAMPLES
[0008] FIG. 1A through 1D represents the perspective views to depict the various electrodes and sensors provided on the outer surface of the device for measuring several health parameters. in the perspective view, the electrodes 101 and 102 are shown mounted on one lateral side of the device with adequate service area to accommodate finger. Similarly, the electrodes 103 and 104 are shown mounted on the other lateral side of the device. The electrode 105 is shown mounted on the back side of the device. The electrode 106 is shown mounted on one side at the lower part of the front surface and electrode 107 is shown mounted on the on other side of the lower part of the front surface. The button 108 corresponds to the power on and off switch of the device. The display device 109 operates to display various data and text for user to perform desired health monitoring using the device. The display 109 may be a touch screen display and may accept user input for setting the device and receive operational commands.
[0009] FIG. 1E and 1F represents the different views of the device showing other two surfaces not depicted in the FIG. 1A-D as shown there, port 112 represents the usb port for charging the device and also for external interface. The port 114 represents Glucometer. The port 116 represents stud button for connecting the extended ECG lead. The part 118 represents extendable ECG electrode. In that, one end 121 connects to the port 116 and other end comprises patch 131 to be placed over the chest for measuring ECG signals.
[0010] FIG. 2A is a blown-up view of the device. In that, the device is shown comprising three tier assembly sections. The section 210 represents top assembly, the section 220 represents the mid assembly section and the section 230 represents the bottom assembly part. The FIG. 2B illustrates the parts in the device in more detail. The parts Wakeup switch 211, Top Enclosure 212, Membrane keypad 213, and Top enclosure 214 are shown included in the section 210. The Display 226, Main PCB 221, PPG Sensor 222, Spring contact for top electrode 223, Pogo pin connect for side electrode 224, Stud button for extended electrode 225, Glc 236, Mid Chassis 227, Side electrodes 228, USB 238, and Pogo pin contact for bottom electrode 229 are shown as part of mid-section 220. The PCB Battery isolator 231, Battery 232, Bottom Electrode & Thermistor 233 and Bottom Enclosure 234 are shown as part of the section 230. In that, all enclosure parts are injection molded with medical grade thermoplastic material and electrodes parts are machined in surgical grade stainless steel SS 316. Further, Mid Chassis 227 and Bottom Enclosure 234 are colored with teal to provide sense of Calming, Sophisticated and Emotional Healing and colored with Lavender to provide sense of Femininity and Grace.
[0011] The device with three sections is provided in 3-piece design with robust mid chassis to simplify manufacturing and assembly of sub components. The device also holds precisely machined electrodes in surgical grade Stainless steel for long life and reliability. Simple interface with 3key membrane keypad takes care of whole navigation, tests and settings. Membrane keypad also helps in ingress protection and minimization of accidental actuation of commands.
[0012] The device captures both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by simply holding it on the device electrodes and activating the test by selecting on the menu. The device has two side electrodes where fingers are placed to hold the device for ECG capture and two electrodes in the front of the device where the two fingers are placed to capture PPG signal to capture the systolic and diastolic blood pressure within few seconds of capture and processing.
[0013] The handheld device (device) captures SpO2 by simply placing the two fingers on the front electrodes to capture PPG signal to record the SpO2 which represents the dissolved oxygen in the blood. The device captures heart rate by simply holding the device by the two fingers of both the hands on 4 electrodes on the side to capture ECG which is used to derive the heart pulse rate.
[0014] The device captures body temperature by simply placing the device with backside electrode touching the forehead or underarm or neck region at convenience and initiating the test by selecting body temperature from the test menu. In the device, the enzymatic test strip may be inserted at the special socket at 114 slot and drop of fresh blood is placed to monitor the blood glucose within few minutes when blood glucose test is selected from the test menu in the display. The manner in which device may be employed is further described below.
[0015] FIG. 3A illustrates the manner in which simple ECG may be measured using the device. As shown there, four fingers two from each hand may be placed (pressed against) the electrodes 101, 102, 103 and 104 as shown and the simple ECG test is activated from the keypad/touch screen display that enable selection of the tests through suitable user interface graphics/text.
[0016] FIG. 3B illustrates the manner in which extended ECG may be measured using the device. In that, device makes use of electrodes 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and extendable ECG electrode 118 coupled to the stud button116. In that, as illustrated with respect to FIG. 3A, the four fingers are placed over four electrodes 101-104, the device is placed over knee such that electrode 105 touches the knee (left leg part) and the flexible ECG probe (patch) is placed over the chest at v2 position.
[0017] The FIG. 3C illustrates the manner in which the temperature may be measure in one embodiment, the device may be activated to measure the temperature through membrane key pad and display device and the device is placed over the forehead such that, the electrode 105 touches the forehead. Device may be held for 1-2 min for measurement of the temperature.
[0018] The FIG. 3D illustrates the manner in which SpO2 may be measured. As shown there, placing the two fingers on the front electrodes 106 and 107 to capture PPG signal to record the SpO2 which represents the dissolved oxygen in the blood. FIG. 3E illustrates measurement of the blood pressure by the device. The activating the blood pressure testing through the user interface, the device may be configured to test blood pressure. As shown, by placing two fingers on the electrodes 106 and 107 (Similar to the FIG. 3D), the device capture PPG signal and capture both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure within few seconds.
[0019] FIG. 3F illustrates the manner in which the blood glucose may be measured in one embodiment. As shown there, test strip may be inserted into the port 114 which is implemented as micro USB slot. Placing a drop of fresh blood to monitor the blood glucose, the device presents the blood glucose level (when the user selected blood glucose from the test menu in the display).
