DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] The present invention generally relates to a coin counting device. More specifically, the invention describes a smart device for detecting, recognizing and accumulating the sum of numerical values of coins present in the hundi.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Temples in India are famous all over the world and people from various countries like to visit the temples. For the development of temples, they collect funds from devotees via hundi.
[003] The hundi present in the temples are usually filled with coins and they are counted manually which is quite difficult and also time consuming. Similarly, the coins which are received in other places like banks, business and charity homes etc are also very difficult to count since they receive enormous amount of coins.
[004] Apart from time consumption manual coin counting process causes human error which leads to wrong calculation. In order to overcome the above issues many automated devices using machine vison system came into existence for counting the coins present in the hundi.
[005] A patent WO2016199074A1 – “Universal coin sorter and coin counting machine” explains, the device with machine vision system captures the coin images and compares it with the database of coin images to identify the coin denominations. After the denominations are identified the values of the coins are counted and displayed in the user interface component.
[006] An US patent US8615123B2 titled “Coin identification method and apparatus” describes a coin identification system with an imaging device captures the image of the coins placed in the device. The denomination of the coins can be identified using by the geometric measurements of enhanced images. After calculating the value of the coins, it is displayed in the computer screen.
[007] A scientific literature titled “Machine Vision Based Coin Separator and Counter” [Prashanna Rangan, 2018] describes, the system with a digital camera captures the image of the coins and compares them with the template image to identify the value of the coin. An IR sensor present in the system can be used for counting operation.
[008] The existing system explains about a smart device for detecting, recognizing and accumulating the sum of numerical values of coins present in the hundi using machine vision system but the drawback in these devices are it is more expensive and the device used for counting coins causes error.
[009] Therefore there exists a need to design and develop a smart counting device for accumulating the sum of numerical values of coins present in the hundi.

[015] In an aspect of the present invention, the counting and computation of the coin is done using a processor module.
[016] In another aspect, the value of the total coins present in the hundi are counted and displayed in an LCD display unit.
[017] The smart device embedded with vibration sensor and a temperature sensor detects the threat when the threshold level of the sensor is disturbed, and it also provides an alert to the user through the communication module.
[018] Further in accordance with the present invention, the smart coin counting device can be used in banks, business and charity homes etc.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[021] The principles of operation, design configurations and evaluation values in these non-limiting examples can be varied and are merely cited to illustrate at least one embodiment of the invention, without limiting the scope thereof.
[022] The embodiments will be described in detail with corresponding marked references to the drawings, in which the illustrative components of the invention are outlined. The embodiments disclosed herein can be expressed in different forms and should not be considered as limited to the listed embodiments in the disclosed invention. The various embodiments outlined in the subsequent sections are construed such that it provides a complete and a thorough understanding of the disclosed invention, by clearly describing the scope of the invention, for those skilled in the art.
[023] It must also be noted that as used herein and in the appended claims, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" include plural references unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Although any systems and methods similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice or testing of embodiments of the present invention, the preferred, systems and methods are now described.
[024] The coin detection of various denominations and computation and accumulation of sum of the values of the coins in a sequence with emergency threat alert system is proposed in the present invention.
[025] The objective of the present invention is to detect the coins entering (101) the Hundi using machine learning algorithm and to recognize the numerical value of the coin after a successful detection using machine learning algorithm.
[026] The recognized coin value will be processed and saved using a processor module (103). The counting and computation will be started at the time of entry itself in a sequence manner.
[027] At any time, one can view the totally collected coin values in the Hundi via our display module (108) in the gadget. Two sensors such as temperature (102) and vibration sensor (105) are incorporated to alert any threat condition.
[028] As illustrated in Fig. 1, the present coin counting gadget is generally categorized into three phases:
Module I: Coin detection
Module II: Coin Recognition
Module III: Coin counting system
Module IV: Threat Detection System
[029] Coin detection: A small conveyor belt is used for moving the coin from the entry path of the Hundi. A standard high resolution camera will be used to capture the image of the coin on both sides. A coin flipping (104) setup will be included to capture the image on both sides of the coin.
[030] Coin Recognition: After receiving the images from the camera, pre-processing is applied to merge the two images of a single coin and to enhance the quality of the image. After pre-processing, the coin’s numerical character is recognized using a bounding box and optical character recognition (OCR) method. The recognized numerical character of the coin is presented in the form of text. OCR uses correlation method to match the individual characters with the numeric database.
[031] Coin counting system: A state of the art processor module (103) is used for summation and accumulation of numerical values of the coins. The text form of the coin will be sent as an input to the processor module (103). After receiving the input, the processor starts the counting process and save the count sum parallelly. The cumulated counting can be viewed and displayed at any time for the users.
[032] Threat Detection system: The device is incorporated with two sensors such as vibration sensor (105) and temperature sensor (102). A minimal level threshold is setup for both the sensors (102, 105). When any threat is detected and when the threshold level is disturbed, an alarm/emergency message is transferred to the remote authenticated person through the communication module (106).
