Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a smart notebook system that is capable of preventing wastage of papers by allowing a user to read the e-books from an authorized device.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Electronic distribution of information has gained in importance with the proliferation of personal computers and has undergone a tremendous upsurge in popularity as the Internet has become widely available. With the widespread use of the Internet, it has become possible to distribute large, coherent units of information, such as books, using electronic technologies. Books distributed using electronic technologies are commonly referred to as electronic books (“eBooks”). Various entities make eBooks available for download over ordinary Internet connections, such as broadband and dialup connections.
[0003] E-Book reader devices attempt to mimic the experience of reading a conventional paper book through display of electronic information on one or more electronic displays. A typical eBook reader device is a handheld digital device having a liquid crystal display panel and enough memory and processing capability to store several eBooks. Such a device is capable of retrieving and displaying an eBook or portion of an eBook for reading. To date, however, eBook readers and the use of eBooks in general have not achieved widespread consumer acceptance. This is most likely attributable to the design and implementation particulars of conventional eBook reader devices.
[0004] Awkwardness in physically handling the eBook readers may be one reason such devices have not yet gained widespread popularity. Another reason might be inconsistent or non-intuitive user interface actions that arise when a user is interacting with the eBook readers. As such eBook readers continue to evolve, there remains a need for improving a reader's ability to hold and interact.

[0019] As used herein, the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” designate both the singular and the plural, unless expressly stated to designate the singular only.
[0020] The present invention relates to a smart notebook system capable of being storing, and displaying e books to the user, when the user desires to read any book, thereby preventing he usage of any physical books, which saves a lot of paper from being wasted.
[0021] Referring to Figure 1, illustrates a block diagram of an smart notebook system.
[0022] The present invention is directed to the Smart Notebook system for conserving paper, by replacing conventionally used paper-based books and notebooks with their digital substitute. The system described here involves several components put together to provide a low-cost, eco-friendly solution to help save the environment from deforestation, while offering security in accessing and using digital content. The computing unit constitutes the heart of the Smart Notebook system, and it is here that most of the time the user will interact with it. In this unit, digitized copies of books and notebooks would be stored and accessed, thereby dispensing with the physical use of paper altogether. It contains the computing unit with all processing power and storage capacity to handle a large volume of digital content in order for users to manage their entire library within this one device.
[0023] A computing unit that integrates a capacitive display unit within itself. It renders the digitized books and notebooks readable on this display unit. Also, with the use of capacitive technology, one can easily flip through the pages, highlight the text from the pages, and even work on the content using their fingers by touching the screen. Brightness and display unit are optimized for comfort reading over a long period by bringing in eye-friendly settings that don't put much strain on the eyes after a long period of use. User platform is a very important component of Smart Notebook system. It is installed in computing unit, by which user can access wide library of digitized books and notebooks. These will also be accessible on the platform for buying and downloading at a cheaper price in comparison to the traditional paper-based books. Since it will be hosting a large portfolio of titles, it will foster the shift from hard copy to digital; hence, it will be promoting environmental conservation by reducing paper usage. The platform is user-friendly in design, allowing one to easily browse and purchase and track his/her library.
[0024] One of the prime benefits of the Smart Notebook system is its cost-saving structure in the long run. Users may have to invest a little more in this device compared to buying a single paper notebook, but the Smart Notebook is intended for one-time use. In the long term, users will save a good amount of money by not having to buy new notebooks and books time and again. Apart from this economic benefit, there is also an environmental effect due to less consumption of paper. Therefore, the system is a very convincing choice for users in both the educational and professional fields. The Smart Notebook system is designed in context with a more general eco-friendly initiative dealing with forest protection. It minimizes the demand for paper; hence it saves forests and minimizes the net ecological footprint of traditional books. This also involves a campaign to raise awareness among users about shifting to digital media, highlighting the environmental advantages. It encourages the adoption of the Smart Notebook system as part of the initiative for sustainability in education and personal uses.
[0025] It protects the integrity of digitized content through a protecting mechanism protocol in the Smart Notebook system, which would prevent unauthorized editing or modification of original contents within books and notebooks. Protection mechanisms are availed by encryption and DRM technologies that make sure that, while tampering is prevented, the original intent of the authors and publishers is preserved accordingly. This security feature is very vital in ensuring that there is credibility, aside from the reliability of the digital content provided through the user platform. In adding value to the basic functionality, the user platform of the Smart Notebook system can be made cloud-based; this allows users who purchase books to synchronize them on multiple devices for flexibility in terms of accessibility from different locations. The cloud-based platform ensures that users have their library with them at all times, either from their main Smart Notebook device or by accessing it from another compatible device.
[0026] The success of the Smart Notebook system may also be further supported through different governmental support mechanisms, which may come in the form of subsidies, tax incentives, or any other forms of financial benefits for users to transition from using paper-based books and notebooks to the digital Smart Notebook system. In this way, the system goes hand-in-hand with government policy on environmental impact reduction, hence gaining wider publicity and acceptance in achieving national and global sustainability goals. Correspondingly, the introduction of this eco-friendly initiative could be spearheaded through a public awareness campaign with the use of the Smart Notebook system. This campaign should be committed to the sensitization of the public on environmental gains to be accrued from reduced paper consumption. The campaign would point out the impacts of reduced deforestation and preservation of natural resources, engendering such a culture of sustainability and promoting wider adoption of the Smart Notebook system. The Smart Notebook system is a revolutionary step in educational and personal consumption. Thus, it offers an economical way out through the substitution of paper-based books and notebooks with digital alternatives, hence contributing to environmental conservation. The Smart Notebook system entails a secure platform, an eco-friendly initiative, and probably even government support-something so fundamentally essential to the promotion of literacy while caring for the environment.
