, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses the method for smart shelves for retails using Internet of Things (IoT). The present invention relates generally to inventory management and, in particular, to Smart shelves for retail industry.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Almost every human being like to shopping. For shopping, they go to a retail store hoping to get all the items on the shopping list. It is quite common that items are missing or misplaced. And it is very hard to get help or the unit from the shop assistants, as they may not be aware of the item’s location in the warehouse. In many cases customers are left with the choice of either going to a different retail store or to return the next day, hoping that the shelves will be restocked. This may happen generally with almost every retail shop.
It is really crucial and hectic job for shop assistants to monitor each and every shelf, because people may shuffle items from shelf to shelf. To find items and place on particular shelf is really a hectic job. Currently there is no such system to organize this process.
But as world get more and more digital, some technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things are proving most promising to retail sector.
The present invention solves the above problem with the help of Internet of Things (IoT).
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of connected devices embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and so on which enable these objects to collect and exchange data. The concept of IoT has many applications depending on the physical devices that are connected and one of the most remarkable applications of IoT in retail is Smart Shelves. As the name suggest, shelves that have been made capable of storing, processing and sharing data are known as smart shelves.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the invention is that, the smart shelves for retails using Internet of Things (IoT).
Another object of the invention is that, easy replenishment of shelves.
Another object of the invention is that, customer interest identification.
Another object of the invention is that, tracking misplaced items.
Other object of the invention is that, pricing display to customer.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses the system or method for smart shelves for retail using Internet of Things (IoT). The smart shelves have number of sensors to form mesh arrangement of sensors, placed on bottom of shelves. The mesh arrangement of sensors includes strain sensors, photodetectors, microphones, spillage sensors. The data processing system transforms the signal from each of the smart shelves into a product count value. The method includes displaying, the given product to be sold from each of the smart shelves. The data of products which has been sold from each of the smart shelves is transferred to the server. So, it is easy to know the retailer to replenishment of shelves.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
Fig 1 shows flowchart of the method and computer program for this invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
The present invention discloses the system or method for smart shelves for retail by using Internet of Things (IoT). Internet of Things (IoT) has many applications depending on the physical devices that are connected and one of the most remarkable applications of IoT in retail is Smart Shelves. Shelves that have been made capable of storing, processing and sharing data are known as smart shelves.
The smart shelves for retail using Internet of Things (IoT) comprising of: Any smart electronic computing device – storing data from smart shelves; Sensors – sense product count from shelves and send data to smart electronic device. The various sensors such as strain sensors, photodetectors, microphones, spillage sensors are arranged at bottom of shelves to form mesh arrangement of sensors.
The smart shelves for retail using Internet of Things (IoT) can work as following:
Step 1) The number of sensors is installed at the bottom of shelves.
Step 2) The sensors are arranged in a such way to for mesh arrangement of sensors.
Step 3) When any product from shelves are sold the sensor sense it. And transferred that sense data to product count values.
Step 4) The product count values are transferred to the smart electronic device.
Step 5) Retailer team can replenish, if product is less.
This is the basic model of Smart Shelves. And scope of smart shelves is not limited to this only.
The smart shelves for retail using Internet of Things (IoT) has some advantages such as:
Easy Replenishment – As smart shelves are capable of monitoring data pertaining to the items placed on them, they send real time updates to the retailers so as to enable them to restock the shelves as and when required.
Customer interest identification – The shelves can identify which products are more sought after and which are not by analysing the data associated with product returns. This also helps retailers in identifying customer’s interests and better manage their inventory.
Tracking misplaced items - These are various instances where items get misplaced, causing a dent to the retailer’s bottom line. Smart shelves can help retailers to curb the problem of misplaced items by alerting them through notifications and allowing them to look into the matter without causing any damage to the sales and the inventory.
Pricing display – An interactive kiosk or LED panel attached to the shelves can really enhance the efficiency of the store as it will allow people to search for the desired product and associated price, promotions and other relevant information without any trouble.
