g) After completion of the payment then customer will bring the cart to the packing center and leave the mall waiting near delivery point present outside the mall.
, Description:The present invention generally relates to an automated system. More specifically, the invention describes a smart shopping cart with automated billing system.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In shopping malls to bill the purchase items one should wait in long queues. These queues are pretty much time consuming. They should spend their effective time for purchasing the items but due to the long queues they are compromising their time for collecting items just to overcome delay near the billing counter.
This problem will be so severe if it is on weekends and holidays. People should select items in the mall put them into the cart and after completion of their shopping one should go to checkout point to pay the bill.
At checkout point cashier needs to prepare the final bill by barcode reader that is very time-consuming which consequences for a long queue at the billing center. Another problem every customer face while purchasing a greater number of items.
Shopping malls being pretty much big in area if the number of items to be purchased by the customer are more than collecting the items in the cart and carrying them around the mall for purchasing wide range of items it will be difficult task for a customer causing losing their energy also their enthusiasm to purchase their all needs by getting a mindset of completing the shopping sooner.
Since the main motive of offline shopping is to make customer feel comfortable to shop all the items seeing with their naked eye and selecting best among the selected items so the energy of the customer is also to be conserved. So, an easy carrying of cart will enhance the customer to shop more which will be profitable to a shopping mall.
Therefore, there exists a need to design and develop an advanced system that should overcome the problem of unnecessary time spending near the billing counter is overcome and the problem of carrying the cart when the cart is overweighted is solved with minimal expenditure and minimal maintenance and it is easy to use, low-cost and does not need any special training.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The following summary is provided to facilitate a clear understanding of the new features in the disclosed embodiment and it is not intended to be a full, detailed description. A detailed description of all the aspects of the disclosed invention can be understood by reviewing the full specification, the drawing and the claims and the abstract, as a whole.
The objective of the present invention is to design and develop an automated system for easy shopping and billing.
The aforementioned aspects along with the objectives and the advantages can be achieved as described herein.
In an aspect of the present invention, the smart trolley which integrates with RFID reader, Barcode reader, Arduino and LCD display and IR sensors with it.
In another aspect of the present invention, the scanned items by the customer will automatically add into the billing list and generate bill for items purchased.
In yet another aspect of the present invention, the user can view the generated bill using LCD display also, we can pay the bill using RFID technology in our proposed system.
Further in accordance with the present invention, these modules are integrated, programmed and tested to satisfy the functionality.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES
Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description of the techniques and methodologies accompanied by suitable diagrams.
Fig. 1 illustrates the block diagram of the present invention;
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The principles of operation, design configurations and evaluation values in these non-limiting examples can be varied and are merely cited to illustrate at least one embodiment of the invention, without limiting the scope thereof.
The embodiments will be described in detail with corresponding marked references to the drawings, in which the illustrative components of the invention are outlined. The embodiments disclosed herein can be expressed in different forms and should not be considered as limited to the listed embodiments in the disclosed invention. The various embodiments outlined in the subsequent sections are construed such that it provides a complete and a thorough understanding of the disclosed invention, by clearly describing the scope of the invention, for those skilled in the art.
It must also be noted that as used herein and in the appended claims, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" include plural references unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Although any systems and methods similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice or testing of embodiments of the present invention, the preferred, systems and methods are now described.
To make a successful and an easy offline shopping using LCD display (109) to display the mode of operation and items along with their prices.
There are buttons which are used for adding items into the cart, removing items from the cart and for completing the billing. We use these buttons based on our need of operation.
We use the barcode scanner (102) to scan the items to be purchased or removed this barcode scanner (102) is connected to a serial device which is used as a communication device between the Arduino (107) and barcode scanner (102).
We have integrated 3 IR sensors (103, 104, 105) along the three directions of the cart these IR sensors (103, 104, 105) signals are used to move the two motorized motors (111) present below the cart. So, considering the key of ADD is selected then by scanning any item then the item name, item price and total amount which need to be paid will be displayed in the LCD display (109).
If the key of REMOVE is selected this mode will be used if we want any item to be removed from the cart so to remove the item from the cart, we take that item and scan that product so that the particular item will be removed from billing list along with the price of the item so the problem of waiting near the billing counter to complete the transaction is solved.
Finally for completing the payment for what a customer purchased in order to make this easier it is advisable to make a membership card of that particular mall so that the customer will recharge the card in order to complete payment the card having the RFID (108) and the cart having RFID reader (108) if we bring the RFID card (108) near the reader if there is sufficient amount in the card then it displays as the payment is successful if not it will say insufficient amount in the card. After completion of the payment then customer will bring the cart to the packing center and leave the mall waiting near delivery point present outside the mall.
Near packing center, they will put all the items in the carry bag checking that if there is any item present in the cart without paying for it so in such a way packing and cross checking can be done in order to avoid threating in shopping malls.
Add Mode - we can observe that mode add has been selected which is being displayed on the LCD screen (109) that we observe. Here when this option is selected then the products that are scanned after this mode selected will be added to the list of the products that are bought by the customer’s displays the item name price of added product, total cart of items count and the total amount of the cart value.
Remove Mode - the image occurs on the screen when the mode of remove is selected when this option is selected then the product that is selected after scanning will be removed from the list of the products that are bought, item count of the cart will be reduced by 1 and total amount of the cart will be updated.
Payment Mode - the image is displayed when the mode three is selected which is used for the entire purchase of the products is completed and the customer and is willing to do the payment of the products now, we the customer bring his RFID card near RFID reader (108) to complete the transaction.
Final Output Display - message will be displayed if the payment done by the user through the RFID card (108) is successful now the respective cart amount will be deduced from the customer’s account.
Payment Failed Due to Insufficient Balance – message will be displayed when there is insufficient balance in the RFID card (108) through which the user tried to pay the bill in that case customer can add amount in his account and his complete his transaction.
