The present embodiment relates to water heater, and more particularly to smart water heater that is efficient and time saving.

Background of Invention:

In recent years, the use of mobile phone devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, personal digital assistants and other such devices has made it desirable that all other devices useful to humans be made to interact with humans and understand their desires as inputs, and produce an output accordingly. This is mostly led by the fact that such devices are energy efficient, time saving, safe and interactive.

The water heater system, currently available commercially, are yet to undergo such a change. While one can set-up a timer in some recent water heating systems available in the market, but they offer no other comforts and accessories to the users, and as such remain on the outskirts of smart technology that make devices efficient in terms of their functioning, energy consumption and duration of use.

Accordingly, there remains a need for water heaters that are smart.

As mentioned, there remains a need for smart water heaters that are energy efficient, time saving and more interactive with a user. In accordance with this, the embodiment herein provide a water heater having features as illustrated in Figure 1 and Figure 2, and as will be described herein.

Fig. 1 illustrates front isometric view of a water heater, according to an embodiment herein. The water heater 100 includes a panel or body 102, a cold water inlet 104, a display 106, a wiper 108, a telescopic cylinder 110, and a microphone 114. The water heater 100 further includes a hanger 112, a platform or a shelf 116 and a box or enclosure 118. The panel or body 102 may be made from commonly available materials such as a thermoplastic. The heater receives cold water from the cold water inlet 104, which is placed at the top in the embodiment as shown in Figure 1. The inlet 104 may be positioned anywhere across the panel depending on the position of water supply pipeline or as may be desired by the user. The water from the inlet 104 is stored in the box or enclosure 118, where a heating coil is placed. The panel or body 102 further include a display 106 placed above the box or enclosure 118, and a mirror 120 on the box or enclosure 118. In one embodiment, the display 106 is placed below the box or enclosure 118 i.e. at the bottom of the panel 102, and above the shelf 116. The display 106 may be a television screen, or an interactive touch-screen mobile device such as tablet or touch—enabled TFT/LCD display that enables a user to interact with the water heater 100. The display 102 may interact with a mobile phone device of the user through a mobile application and set temperature, time, flow and other such parameters directly for the water heater 100.

The water heater 100 further includes the telescopic cylinder 110 attached to the body or panel 102. The telescopic cylinder is further connected with a wiper blade 108 that can move across the display 106, with the help of the telescopic cylinder 110. The telescopic cylinder 110 is expandable and compressive equipment with concentric cylindrical pieces. The wiper blade 108 is fixed the free end of the telescopic cylinder 110 as shown in Figure 1. The telescopic cylinder may be operated from the control in the display 106 or through the mobile application to clean the display 106, whenever there is moisture of water droplets on the display 106 and the mirror 120.

The panel or body 102 may be moulded to include a shelf or platform 116 or alternatively, a shelf or platform 116 may be placed at the bottom of the panel or body 102, and affixed or fastened to the panel or body 102. The platform or shelf 116 may be used to placed things such as toiletries, scrubs, brushes, and other such items. The hanger 112 may be attached to the panel or body 102, and may be used to hang clothes such as towels, suits, or any dress. The hanger 112 may be pushed inside the panel or body 102 or pulled out as needed. The panel or the body 102 further includes the microphone 116. The microphone 116, according to the exemplary embodiment of Figure 1, is placed at or built in the outer surface of box or enclosure 118.

The microphone 116 may be used by the user to communicate to others, from inside to outside, of a bathroom. This may come handy in situations such as asking for towels and toiletries. A speaker may be placed outside the bathroom, and be connected wirelessly or through wire to the microphone 116.

In an embodiment, the water heater 100 includes a number of USB ports to enable connecting multiple devices. In an embodiment, the display 106 is an interactive control unit to control the water heater timing, temperature, and energy consumption.

Fig. 2 illustrates a rear view of the smart water heater, according to an embodiment herein. The cold or normal water from the inlet 104 is stored in the box or enclosure 118 that includes a heating coil 202, which is directly connected to one of the outputs of the inlet 104. The heating coil 202 is made of commonly available or used materials for making heating coils, and may be powered from outside by direct supply or through an inbuilt battery or energy storage unit. The water is heated and dispensed through a number of outlets 206. The outlet 206 may be positioned on the side or on the front surface of the box or enclosure 118. The water heater 100 further includes a thermostatic mixer 204, which mixes hot water and cold water in variable proportions to supply water at defined temperature as defined by the user through the mobile phone application or through the display 106. The thermostatic mixer 204 includes a wifi module to enable communication with the heater 100. The thermostatic mixer 204 receives cold water directly from the inlet 104 via another outlet of the inlet 104 [the other being connected to the heating coil 202].

The water through the output 206 is dispensed through the thermostatic mixer 204 that receives both cold water from the inlet 104, and the hot water from the heating coil 202 through two different inlets. The thermostatic mixer 204 mixes the hot and cold water, in appropriate proportion, in order to obtain water at a desired temperature based on the inputs by the user through the mobile application communicating with the heater 100. This enables the water to be delivered or dispensed at a desired temperature. The thermostatic mixer 204, as described above, may have multiple outlets 206. In an embodiment, the thermostatic mixer 204 has two outlets 206; one being for tap and another being for shower.
