Background of the Invention
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a snap type start I horn mechanism of a handle bar
switch.
Description of the Related Art
In conventional design of the start module, the moving contact is assembled in insert and
this insert is insert molded in the start knob. While pressing the knob, the moving contact is in
touch with fixed contact and continuity is created and thus start I Horn is caused to happen. In
this design, the terminal is used for input supply and output is connected in the fixed contact. The
Pivot pin (Brass material) is used to hold the knob and the terminals. The Torsion spring is used
to return back the start knob.
Disadvantages of the Prior art
In the prior art switch, the contact makes and breaks with the help of the torsion spring.
Furthermore, the cost is very high and the operating force is high. There is also more number of
parts.
Objects of the Invention
Accordingly, it is a principal object of the present invention to overcome or ameliorate at
least one of" the disadvantages of the prior art, or to provide a useful alternative.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a snap type contact design.
2
It is another object of the present invention to provide a snap type contact mechanism that
can be easily and efficiently manufactured and is of durable and solid construction.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a snap type contact switch that can be
operated by a person of ordinary skill.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention is directed to a snap type start I horn mechanism of a handle bar
switch that substantially obviates one or more problems due to the limitations and disadvantages
of the related art.
In the present invention, the moving contact is assembled in the moving terminal and one
end of Hook spring is assembled in the moving terminal and another end is mounted in bracket
part (Pin projected in bracket whole part is plastic part). The Torsion spring is mounted in the pin
and the spring free end is assembled in Knob start. The Terminal is mounted in bracket. The
Moving terminal is assembled in the pin type mechanism located in the terminal part. 'vVhilc
pressing the knob start, it moves downward due to the pressing of the hook spring. During this
operation the moving terminal comes down and touches the fixed contact due to which contact
making operation is caused. While contact breaking operation, the torsion spring helps the knob
in releasing operation and holds the start knob in initial condition. With the help of hook spring.
contact make and I or break is caused to happen in a quick manner.
Additional advantages, objects, and features of the invention will be set f(Jrth in part in
the description which follows and in part will become apparent to those having ordinary skill in
the art upon examination of the following or may be learned from practice of the invention may

Skilled artisans will appreciate that clements in the drawings arc illustrated for simplicity
and have not necessarily been drawn to scale. For example, the dimensions of some of the
clements in the drawings may be exaggerated relative to other clements to help to improve
understanding of embodiment of the present invention.
Detailed Description of Invention
While the invention is susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms. spcci!ic
embodiment thereof has been shown by way of example in the drawings and will he described in
detail below. It should be understood. however that it is not intended to limit the invention to the
4
particular forms disclosed, hut on the contrary, the invention is to cover all modifications.
equivalents, and alternative falling within the spirit and the scope of the invention. as defined by
the appended claims.
Accordingly, the drawings arc showing only those specific details that arc pertinent to
understanding the em hod i mcnts of the present i nvcntion, so as not to obscu rc the d i sclosurc '' ith
details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having benefit or the
description herein.
The terms "comprises", "comprising", or any other variations thereof'. arc intended to
cover a non-exclusive inclusion, such that a setup, device that comprises a list or components
does not include only those components, but may include other components. not expressly listed
or inherent to such setup or device. In other words, one or more clements in a system or
apparatus proceeded by '"comprises ... a" docs not, without more constraints, preclude the
existence of other clements or additional clements in the apparatus. The following paragraphs
explain present invention with respect to a snap type start I horn mechanism or a handle bar
switch. The invention in respect of the same may be deduced accordingly.
Accordingly. the present invention provides a snap type I horn mechanism or a handle bar
switch comprising: a knob start being assembled in the bracket: a hook spring at one end being
assembled in the moving terminal and another end being mounted in bracket part: a torsion
spring being assembled in the bracket being mounted in the pin and the spnng free end being
assembled in said knob start: moving contact assembled in said moving terminal. said mov111g
contact being assembled in said moving terminal and said moving terminal being mounted in the
bracket assembly part and the other end of the hook spring being assembled in the bracket part:
5
a bracket and terminal being insert moulded or press fitted or snap locked: fixed contact
and insulation washer being riveted in the said bracket and cover being snap fitted in said
bracket; wherein said moving terminal being assembled in the pin type mechanism located in the
terminal part.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the knob start moves downward due
to the pressing or the hook spring when said knob is pressed.
According to yet another aspect of the present invention, the movmg terminal comes
down and touches the fixed contact causing the contact making operation, during this operation.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the torsion spring helps the knob in
releasing operation and holds the start knob in initial condition, while contact breaking operation.
According to yet another aspect of the present invention, the contact make and I or break
is caused to happen in a quick manner with the help of the hook spring.
Referring to the figures, the moving contact is assembled in the moving terminal ( 4) and
one end of !look spring (2) is assembled in the moving terminal (4) and another end is mounted
in bracket part (Pin projected in bracket whole part is plastic part). The Torsion spring (J) is
mounted in the pin and the spring free end is assembled in Knob start (I). The Terminal (~) is
mounted in bracket (5). The Moving terminal (4) is assembled in the pin type mechanism located
in the terminal part. While pressing the knob start (1), it moves downward due to the pressing of
the hook spring (2). During this operation the moving terminal (4) comes down and touches the
fixed contact, due to which contact making operation is caused. While contact breaking
operation. the torsion spring (3) helps the knob in releasing operation and holds the start knob (I)
6
in initial condition. With the help of hook spring (2), contact make and I or break is caused to
happen in a quick manner.
Assembly Sequence:
In bracket (5) and Terminal (8) is insert molded. The I look spnng (2) at one end is
assembled the moving terminal (4). Moving terminal (4) is assembled in the bracket assembly
part (5+8) and the other end of hook spring is assembled in the bracket part (5). The torsion
spring (3) is assembled in the bracket (5). The Insulation washer (7) and the !ixcd contact (6) is
riveted in the bracket (5). The Knob start (I) is assembled in the bracket (5). i\nd !inally Cover
(9) is snap fitted in the 13rackct (5).
Working operation:
While pressing the knob start ( l) it will create a tension in I look spring (2). Due to this
tension. the moving terminal (4) comes down and touches with the !ixcd contact (6). In this
condition. the contact making process is caused. While removing the linger in knob start ( l ). the
I look spring (2) releases the tension and the moving terminal (4) comes up. The torsion spring
(3) it helps to hold the Knob start (I) in the initial position. In put wire is soldered in Terminal
(8) and the output wire is soldered in the Fixed contact (6).
Advantages of the Present Invention
The main advantage of the present invention is that the contact makes and breaks with the
help of the tension spring. The Snap type mechanism (Quick contact type mechanism) is used to
make and break the contact. Furthermore. low current application is possible. l'hc Pivot Pin
metal parts arc replaced by plastic. Cost is less, and further lite is enhanced.
7
The advantages of the disclosed invention arc thus attained in an economical. practical.
and facile manner. While preferred aspects and example configurations have been shown and
described, it is to be understood that various further modifications and additional configurations
will be apparent to those skilled in the art. It is intended that the specific embodiments and
configurations herein disclosed arc illustrative of the preferred nature and best mode of
practicing the invention. and should not be interpreted as limitations on the scope of the
invention.
