Abstract: A system for selecting the suitable courses for the students in the educational institutions, and helping them select the course for their higher education using the Internet of Things (IoT) is disclosed. The IoT based software application connects the students, teachers and the experts through their electronic devices, where the database of the students having the information about the students’ academic records is used to decide the subject which the student is interested in; the experts use the IoT application through their electronic devices such as mobile phones, to shortlist the possible courses which are best for the students, and the list is shared with the students through the IoT based application, which can accessed by them and communicate with the experts for course selection. The staff members of the educational institution have to provide the biometric details for gaining access to the IoT application.
Claims:1. A system for enabling selection of suitable courses for the students in the educational institutions comprising:
a. the electronic devices used by the school staff who are experienced in course selection;
b. the electronic devices used by the experts to shortlist the courses for every student;
c. the electronic devices used by the students to access the software application to view the shortlisted courses by the school staff and experts;
d. a software application containing all the course information, used by experts to select the courses for every student;
e. internet connectivity through data or Wi-Fi network; and
f. a database containing all the information of the students including the academic records and certificates;
wherein, the IoT based software application can be used by the school staff and the experts to shortlist the possible and suitable courses for every student, who can access the same information through the software application for selecting the course for higher education.
2. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the IoT based mobile application requires the security and the staff of the educational institution to provide their biometric access such as fingerprint scan, Iris scan etc., to the electronic devices for successful authentication to access the students’ academic records and certificates.
3. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the IoT based software application contains the course information, which is used by the experts along with the academic records of the student to shortlist the possible and suitable courses for the student.
4. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the students can use the shortlisted courses and select a suitable course, and can also chat with the experts and the school staff through the mobile application for further doubts and clarifications.

The present invention generally relates to a course selection application, and, more particularly to a method and system for assisting the students to opt for suitable courses after schooling using a software application.
Background and prior art:
After the schooling is completed, the students would have to select the proper course for pursuing higher education. The selection of the proper course, has to be based on the strengths and weakness of the student, which can help them to build a successful career in their future. Many students would be easily confused as there are many courses which are available, that offers various combinations of subjects, and students find it difficult to opt for a course which they are interested in.
Many students usually base their decision for selection of course on the opinions provided by their parents, friends and seniors’, teachers etc., which often lead them to opt wrong course, which might burden them in future, as they cannot cope up with curriculum. Also after the students’ opt for a certain course, they might change their mind based on the trend, but would not be able to change their course, as it would waste a year of their educational life.
The main issue which is associated with the course selection is that, many students would not be able to decide what they want to become in future. In India, there are numerous higher education institutions which offer variety of courses at different prices, and the students who cannot afford the course, often settle selecting the courses which are in their budget.
Therefore there is a need for an efficient system which uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to help the students to opt for a suitable course which they can pursue as their higher education.
Objectives of the Invention:
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a software application to help the students opt for suitable higher education courses.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a software application which searches for the students and decides the suitable course for them.
Summary of the Invention:
The present invention discloses a system for selecting the suitable courses for the students in the educational institutions, and helping them select the course for their higher education using the Internet of Things (IoT). The components of the present invention includes the database of the students which contains all the information about their academic records, the electronic devices such as mobile phones which are used by the students, the electronic devices which are used by the school administration, the electronic devices which are used by the experts in the field who can guide the students and teachers, internet connectivity through a Wi-Fi network or a data connectivity, and a software application which contains the information related to the educational courses which the students can opt for.
According to the present invention, all the components are interconnected with each and to the internet connection which enables data transfer among the system. The IoT based software application connects all the components together, as they can be used by the staff members of the educational institutions. The database of the students contains all the information about the students’ academic records which can be used to decide the subject which the student is interested in; the electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets etc., can be used by the students to connect with the staff of the educational institution and the experts in the field; the electronic devices such as laptop can be used by the school administration for connecting with the students and the experts in the field; the electronic devices such as mobile phone, laptop etc., can be used by the experts in the field who can guide the students and teachers in selecting the suitable course; and the software application contains the information related to the educational courses, and the information is used by the experts and the teachers to guide the students in course selection.
According to the present invention, the school staff who are experienced in pros and cons of the courses are selected for the job, who use the database containing the students’ information to analyze and categorize the subjects in which the students are good at and share the same information with the experts in the field, who use the same information and the software application containing the course information to shortlist the courses which are suitable for the particular student. The shortlisted courses are shared with the students through the electronic devices such as the mobile phones using the internet connection, and the data will be received by the students. The students can share the received data with their family and friends to decide and select the course which is suitable for them. The staff members of the educational institution who has access to the students’ academic records have to provide the biometric details to the IoT application for gaining access for viewing and sharing the information.

All the courses which contain the subjects in which the students are good at are selected and a list is created which contains the possible courses. The shortlisted courses are shared with the students through the electronic devices such as the mobile phones using the internet connection, and the data will be received by the students. The students can share the received data with their family and friends to decide and select the course which is suitable for them. The staff members of the educational institution who has access to the students’ academic records have to provide the biometric details to the IoT application for gaining access for viewing and sharing the information. After successful authentication, the staff members can gain access to the academic records and certificates of the students.
There are several advantages of the present invention.
The primary advantage of the present invention is that the IoT based software application can be used to share the data with numerous members as a school or college can contain thousands of students.
Another advantage of the present invention is that, as the IoT based mobile application is used, the data sharing becomes easier.
Another advantage of the present invention is that the academic records and certificates of the students in the educational institutions are stored and accessed with high security using the IoT based software application.
