Solar Hybrid Scooter With Sun Tracking Solar Panel

Abstract: Global warming is one of the most daunting challenges faced by humanity in the twenty-first century. Burning fossil fuel is one of the major contributors to it. In the absence of good last-mile connectivity, most of the non-affluent world population both in urban as well as rural localities still rely on personal two-wheelers running on fossil fuel for their daily commutation. Rising inflation and loss of livelihood due to the pandemic and geopolitical situations associated with the exorbitant price of the fuel are cutting deep into the budget of these families. The promise of electric two-wheelers, which is a clean, green, and inexpensive mode of personal commutation is yet to be fulfilled due to the lack of charging stations and slow charging process. Fear of battery getting completely drained out in the middle of the road looms large on the electric two-wheeler owners. Considering all these problems, the design of a hybrid model of a scooter has been done and implemented where the two-wheeler can be operated by petrol as well as a battery with fitted solar panels for the purpose of charging the battery. In case of full discharge of the battery, the vehicle would be able to run on petrol mode instead of the battery mode. This solar panel meant for charging the batteries is detachable and once the charging procedure is over it may be removed, folded, and kept in the boot space of the scooter. Likewise, if needed, the battery may also be removed and charged separately at any place of convenience. The full charging time of this solar hybrid scooter is one and a half-hour. Once fully charged, it can travel up to 100 kilometers effortlessly. The maximum speed of this vehicle can go up to 80 km per hour in battery mode. The price hike of petrol that keeps us pensive every moment will no longer exist. Above all, this ground-breaking technology will not only be cost-friendly but also eco-friendly due to no pollution.

Specification

Description:The technology that have been implemented can be substituted for any other vehicles or machines that’s operated by motors and electrical power. Depending upon the energy required and need of application the energy of the battery pack and power output can increase or decrease. The weight of the battery pack will proportionally increase or decrease according to the use case.
Examples
This same technology can be implemented on different vehicles like cycle, cars and in the small non-humanoid flying machine. In each case, according to the range different size solar panel and battery packs will be used.
For other used case like, lawn mowing machine, or any other small scale agricultural usage like spraying insecticide, irrigation or water treatment this technology will be helpful, mostly in remote areas. , Claims:We claim:
1. A hybrid scooter, consisting of
- A-frame,
- A front and a rear wheel,
- Instrumentation and control system,
- Braking system,
- Steering
- Transmission
- Solar panels
- Petrol engine
- Lithium-ion battery (74-volt, 30-ampere hour)
- DC Electric Motor

2. The aforementioned (claim 1) scooter is powered either by a DC electric motor with power transmitted to the rear wheel either by chain drive connected to the hub axle or by manual pedaling where the motive power is transferred to the rear wheel hub axle by means of chain drive whereby the DC electric motor is actuated by inputs from a DC motor speed controller.

3. The aforementioned (claims 1 and 2) scooter includes a lithium-ion battery that drives the DC motor for motive power.

4. The aforementioned (claims 1,2 and 3) scooter comprises of a controller for switching on and shutting off the motor.

5. The aforementioned (claims 1,2,3 and 4) scooter includes a foldable solar panel for directly charging the battery.
