Abstract: The present invention relates to a source indication assembly for indicating connectivity of loads with power sources. The assembly comprises housing (6). Knob means (1) is movably placed in housing (6) such that it is capable of occupying plural distinct positions corresponding to ON and OFF conditions of the power sources. Knob means (1) is operatively connected to a contact carrier assembly (4). The source indication assembly comprises source indicating means (2) operatively connected to knob means (1) by means of connecting link means (3) such that change in position of said knob means (1) will simultaneously rotate said indicating means (2).

The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a source indication assembly for switching devices. Particularly, the invention is concerned about an assembly for indicating power sources to which loads are connected. More particularly, the invention is concerned about indicating the electrical state of power sources during load shifting operation in a power supply network.
The assembly of the present invention finds its application in deals with the field of electrical power supply and controllers (switching devices) used for domestic as well as industrial purpose, switching devices such as isolator and the like used for switching (isolating) power supply ON and OFF. During power failure, load is shifted from one power source to another power source.
BACKGROUND AND THE PRIOR ART
In power distribution / supply networks, generally loads are connected to the power sources through switching devices such as circuit breakers, isolators and the like. Switching devices provide means for shifting the load from one power source to the other. Switching devices known in the market till date do not have any inbuilt source indication arrangement. When there is a source indicator the user comes to know which source is switched on and can act accordingly.
Source indication also helps to switch off the other source if running, and therefore saves energy.
Source Indication is necessary for switching the loads, as all power equipments and other loads are used without constraint on main power source, unnecessary loads requires switch off on standby source (generator).
Present market changeover switches do not have source indication, which is necessary for load switching as frequent power failure occurs.
Thus there is need for a source indication assembly indicating the electrical state of power sources during load shifting operation in a power supply network.
The inventors have found that by way of a unique arrangement for source indication comprising uniquely designed link means, the connectivity status of load with respect to both sources can be known simultaneously.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, one object of the present invention is to provide an assembly for optical indication of the power source to which the load is connected.
Another object of the present invention is to provide reduction of energy consumption and thus saving energy.
A further object of the present invention is to provide less time consuming assembling of the arrangement.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an assembly that can be used in any kind of low voltage breaker for source indication purpose.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a source indication assembly for indicating connectivity of loads with power sources, said assembly comprising:
housing;
knob means being movably placed in said housing in a manner that said knob means is capable of occupying plural distinct positions corresponding to ON and OFF conditions of the power sources, said knob means being operatively connected to a contact carrier assembly
source indicating means being rotatably located in the housing,
wherein said source indicating means being operatively connected to said knob means by means of connecting link means such that change in position of said knob means will simultaneously rotate said indicating means thereby indicating the electrical status of load with respect to its connectivity with the sources.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The assembly of the present invention for indicating the load connectivity to the sources comprises a knob means guided in a housing. The knob takes three positions, center, top and bottom. Center position of knob shows "OFF" position and other two positions shows "ON" position of source 1 and source 2.
When the device is in "OFF" position the source indication shows a particular colorl. When device puts on for the source I, knob rotates by a certain angle. It is connected with contact carrier by a pin and also connected to source indication by connecting link means which comprises a "u" pin. The pin comprises two arms one engaged to the knob means and other engaged to indicating means. This will rotate source indication to another position. Source indication shows the two different colors simultaneously. The source which is "ON" shows color2 and source which is "OFF" shows colorl
During the ON condition of source II, in which knob moves to second condition, which in turn gives motion to u pin and u pin drives the source indication along with contact carrier. Source indication shows color 2 for source II and colorl for source I.
The indicating means is operatively connected to the knob via a connecting means. The connecting is a "U" shaped pin which transfer the motion of the knob to the indicating means. The indicating means comprises of an elongated portion having projection at one end of the elongated portion. The projection is substantially vertical in relation to elongated portion. For assembly of source indication in housing, the
source indication is assembled by cylindrical pin. To give motion, one end of u pin is guided in source indication and other end is guided in knob. Further the housing comprises a groove means so as to accommodate the one arm of the "u" pin engaged to the extreme end of the elongated portion of the indicating means.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING FIGURES
Figure 1 shows the assembly of source indication (2), knob (1), U pin (3), contact carrier assembly (4), hinge (5), and the housing (6).
Figure 2 shows the OFF position of the device.
Figure 3 shows ON condition of source I.
Figure 4 shows ON condition of source II.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING FIGURES
In figure 1 the indicating means (2) comprises cylindrical pin means (5) which is connected to the said indicating means (2) such that the any movement of the "u" shaped pin (3) would actuate the indicating means (2) to swivel to a position so as to indicate the connectivity status of the load with the source I and II.
Knob (1) is guided in housing (6), which takes three positions, center, top and bottom. Center position of knob shows "OFF" position and
other two positions shows on position of source I and source II. When device is in "OFF" position the source indication shows colorl (figure no.2)
When device puts on for the source I (figure 3), knob (1) rotates by a certain angle. It is connected with contact carrier (4) by a pin and also connected to source indication (2) by "u" pin (3). This will rotate source indication (2) to another position. Source indication shows color 1 and 2 simultaneously. The source which is "ON" shows color2 and source which is "OFF" shows colorl.
Figure 4 shows ON condition of source II, in which knob moves to second condition, which in turn gives motion to u pin and u pin drives the source indication along with contact carrier. Source indication shows color2 for source II and colorl for source I.
The invention has been shown and described in a preferred form only and many variations may be made in the invention, which will still be comprised within its spirit. It is understood, therefore, that the invention is not limited to the details cited above. The colors of the indicating means as herein described do not limit the scope of the present invention. The same can be replaced by its technical equivalence and yet the invention can be performed. The structure thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all the details may furthermore be replaced with elements having technical equivalence. In practice the materials and dimensions may be any according to the requirements, which will still be comprised within its true spirit.
WE CLAIM
1. A source indication assembly for indicating connectivity of loads
with power sources, said assembly comprising:
housing;
knob means being movably placed in said housing in a manner
that said knob means is capable of occupying plural distinct
positions corresponding to ON and OFF conditions of the power
sources, said knob means being operatively connected to a
contact carrier assembly;
source indicating means being rotatably located in the housing,
wherein said source indicating means being operatively connected to said knob means by means of connecting link means such that change in position of said knob means will simultaneously rotate said indicating means thereby indicating the electrical status of load with respect to its connectivity with the sources.
2. Assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein the connecting link means comprises U-shaped pin having two arms.
3. Assembly as claimed in claim 2 wherein said U-pin comprising two arms adapted to transfer angular movement of the knob to the indicating means.
4. Assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein the source indicating means comprises
an elongated arm portion having plural grooves; and projection means located at one end of said elongate portion.
5. Assembly as claimed in claim 4 wherein the projection means is located substantially vertical to plane of the elongated portion.
6. Assembly as claimed in claims 4 and 5, wherein the projection means provided with colors for indicating ON and OFF condition of the power sources simultaneously.
7. Assembly as claimed in claim 4 wherein the indicating means further comprises cylindrical pin so as to provide rotational movement to the indicating means.
8. Assembly as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the indicating means comprises cylindrical pin adapted for providing swivel motion to the indicating means.
9. Source indication assembly for indicating connectivity of loads with power sources as substantially herein described and illustrated with reference to accompanying figures.
