Abstract: ABSTRACT Disclosed is a spacer oil lock (10) for a vehicle shock absorber. The spacer oil lock (10) comprises of a bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4) and a top hollow cylindrical portion (2) secured on the bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4) by press fitting. The spacer oil lock (10) of the present invention acts as a shock absorber oil reservoir and prevents the contact between the moving member and the stationary member of the front fork of a vehicle. DESC:Field of the invention
The present invention relates to spacer oil lock and particularly provides a light weight and compact split design of spacer oil lock for preventing bottoming in the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle
Background of the invention
In the front fork of a two wheeler when a sudden impact is imparted, the moving member (inner tube) and the stationary member (outer tube) makes contact at the bottom causing damage to both the members. This process is called as bottoming. In order to prevent bottoming in a front fork, a hollow cylindrical structure called as spacer oil lock is used which acts as a reservoir for shox oil. The shox oil column being incompressible will stop the contact between both the moving and the stationary member.
Currently, the existing spacer oil locks are used in combination with the seat spring, valve, and guide spring which adds up to the overall weight of the spacer oil locks due to use of these additional parts, thus in turn increasing on their manufacturing cost.
Therefore, there exists a need for a simple and compact spacer oil lock which addresses the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art. Accordingly, there exists a need for an economically cheaper and a compact, light weight spacer oil lock requiring no additional parts for preventing bottoming in the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle.
Objects of the invention
The primary object of the present invention is to prevent bottoming in the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle.
Another object of the present invention is to reduce the manufacturing cost by providing a light weight and compact spacer oil lock for a two-wheeled vehicle.
Summary of the invention
The present invention provides a spacer oil lock for a vehicle shock absorber. The spacer oil lock comprises of a bottom hollow cylindrical portion and a top hollow cylindrical portion secured on the bottom hollow cylindrical portion by press fitting. The spacer oil lock of the present invention acts as a shock absorber oil reservoir and prevents the contact between the moving member and the stationary member of the front fork of a vehicle.
Brief description of the drawings
Figure 1 shows a schematic view of a spacer oil lock, in accordance with the present invention.
Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiments.
The present invention provides a spacer oil lock requiring no additional components for use in preventing bottoming. The spacer oil lock provided by the present invention is compact in design, and is light in weight, thus making it economically cheaper as compared to the existing spacer oil locks. Specifically, the spacer oil lock of present invention is used in preventing bottoming in the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle.
This present invention is illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, throughout which reference numbers indicate corresponding parts in the various figures. These reference numbers are shown in bracket in the following description.
Referring to figure 1, shown is the schematic view of a spacer oil lock, in accordance with the present invention. The spacer oil lock (10) is a hollow cylindrical structure and comprises of a top hollow cylindrical portion (2) and a bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4). The top hollow cylindrical portion (2) is pressed fitted and secured onto the bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4) to form a hollow cylindrical structure of the spacer oil lock (10). In an embodiment, the top hollow cylindrical portion (2) and the bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4) provides same working conditions.
Accordingly, the spacer oil lock (10) is a hollow cylindrical structure and acts as a reservoir for shox oil thereby making it an incompressible structure for preventing the contact between the moving member and the stationary member of the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle. In a preferred embodiment, the spacer oil lock (10) is used for preventing bottoming in, not limiting to, a two-wheeled vehicle. However, it is evident to those skilled in the art that the invention can be used to prevent bottoming in any vehicle other than the two-wheeled vehicle.
The spacer oil lock (10) does not require any additional components or parts thereof for its functioning, thereby making it very light in weight due to simplicity in its construction. The simple and compact design of the spacer oil lock (10) makes it very economical to manufacture thereby reducing on its manufacturing cost.
The present invention helps in preventing bottoming in the front fork of a two-wheeled vehicle. The spacer oil lock (10) is light in weight, having a simple and compact design and is cheaper as compared to the existing spacer oil locks.
Advantages of the invention
• The spacer oil lock (10) is light in weight having a simple and a compact design.
• The spacer oil lock (10) is very economical to manufacture, thereby reducing on the manufacturing costs.
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention described in the present embodiment. Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein; however, it is to be understood that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure, or matter. The embodiments of the invention as described above and the methods disclosed herein will suggest further modification and alterations to those skilled in the art. Such further modifications and alterations may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
,CLAIMS:1. A spacer oil lock (10) for a front fork of a vehicle, the spacer oil lock (10) characterized by comprising a bottom hollow cylindrical portion (4) and a top hollow cylindrical portion (2) secured by press fitting thereon, the spacer oil lock (10) containing shock absorber oil therein, preventing the contact between a moving member and a stationary member of the front fork of the vehicle.
